Db rating on Ku lnb

Possibly looking at changing out my older lnb on the motorized 36" dish I have set up for Ku. My original lnb said 0.4db, will I really notice any difference going to a 0.1 db? I was thinking it might improve some of the weaker PBS on 125W..OKLA, and Montana

Unless there is something wrong with your old LNBF you probably won't notice much difference, those noise ratings are typically just marketing BS anyway.

As an example, I am getting all the S2 tps on 103W on a 90cm motorized with a 5 year old standard skewed "generic no-name" 0.4 LNBF, it's nothing special for sure.

On the other hand, as cheap as they are is doesn't cost much to try a new one out, and it's always good to have a spare.

There is an ebay dealer selling SatAv's new PLL LNBF for less than $20 shipped, it's a single output 10750 LO.

i would have to agree on both counts don't expect a big gain from newer lnbf's

the only 1 i would consider would be 1 of the newer pll's like mentioned above

i still have .8 nf and 25 degree lnbf's that work perfectly and work almost as good as most of the newer lnbf's

No such thing as a true .1....It is just BS to try to out do another brand to get you to buy theirs.

NF isn't that big a deal especially 'in footprint' and signal levels above threshold. Stability is more important. NF would be more important if your close to threshold/ far from the primary footprint. The 20 year or so old LNB's I got with the 1.2 and 30 inch CM's still perform well (although I use 'no name' LNBF's to get both polarities) and if needed, is put back in service. Albeit temporarily.

Well guess I'll leave it as is then. I remember some hype that DMSI or someone started selling a 0.2 db a few years ago and everything else was 0.3 or 0.4db
But isn't everything NEW and Improved nowadays lol.

Agreed....just a flat out lie.

I used to build PLLs for hard disc data recovery, and transceiver frequency control.

With proper shielding and filtering, shouldn't this be resolvable?
Or is it just what some new chip offers, straight out of the box?


... also, I'm still lobbying for some $25 C-band LNBs ...
(not really keen on pumping 10mhz up the coax for commercial LNBs)

Thought we were talking about consumer grade LNBFs?

$$$ talks if you are ready to spend hundreds or thousands for your next LNBF. I am sure a custom solution could be whipped up for your next project.

I think that the HD terminology is more applicable. You wouldn't believe how many calls and emails that we receive asking if GEOSATpro LNBFs are capable of receiving HD or digital signals.

We added the HD language and we no longer answer multiple messages each week from EBay customers about the HD compatibility OF OUR LNBFs.

I never gave it any thoughts at the sellers point of few. And this would actually take any confusion out.
