It would be silly for anyone to accept a Roku from DISH if it was just to be leased.

If the Welcome Pack included TNT (only because of Dallas do we watch TNT) I would switch us to the Welcome Pack in a heartbeat.

First guy was only going to give me free SHO for one month.. I said I would prefer a Roku or other longer term discount. I was on chat-hold for 55 min. (Gave me time to assemble a shelf system at home). then a Dish Customer Loyalty agent came on and gave me the 10 off a month for 1 year.

Slightly. People are stating that it is the Roku XD.

Thank you. That's the model I was considering buying. But since getting a free one might result in a less attractive Hopper upgrade offer later on, I think I'll pass. But if I ever had to drastically reduce my entertainment expenses, that would be the way. Although, I already have a couple devices for Amazon..... The Roku XD offers more, but how much more? Food for thought.

I really watched AMC, but in the summer I always downgrade packages, there is no sports that I care about, and neither the shows I care about are, so I save a little money, and I downgrade in June 13, just after Mad Men, and in time to upgrade again for Breaking Bad on July 15 (if something happened and AMC was still on)... Now I can't get the Roku, because "I never had AMC".

Just called the 1-800 number on my bill pushed all the right numbers to say I wanted to deactivate service, was transferred to a csr and asked her what happened to AMC. She gave me the rundown and offered me a Roku player and explained how it worked. I asked if there was anything she could do about credits and she gave me 5 dollars off a month for 12. Very nice lady and total call time was 8:30.

By the way she seemed to think the player was worth 59.99 which would seem to indicate the HD model but i guess we'll see.

Same here, short call...asked for Loyalty Dept. very nice lady, who said she'd send me a free Roku. I don't know what it is or how to use it, something about the Internet. Hopefully it comes with directions.

You should get an email from Dish with a couple links on how it works and how to set it up. I got it about an hour after the chat.

Only show I watch on AMC is The Walking Dead. If it's not back on by the start of the next season, then I'll call Dish and see what they can do.
Or should I just call now for the credits and a Roku box? Don't have a real need for one with an AppleTV , 3 xbox 360s and a PS3.

OK so I had been rebuffed three times all by the Loyalty department saying that I was not eligible for the free Roku. I just now called #: 1-888-873-5765 (Special Retention Team) and wow was the lady I got nice. There was no wait time unlike the online chat and when I mentioned the free Roku offer she immediately said ok and offered me the $35 credit to cover one season of Walking Dead!. I didnt push or ask for any credits as I already have two on my account. I am only 3 months into a recent upgrade so am still in contract. It has certainly been fustrating today but finally I found a good number and spoke to a friendly understanding person who helped me out. Even though I marked no on the poll.....I now have to change that to a yes. If you are having trouble with the Loyalty Department try the Special Retention Team.

Well that was easy. I called the number listed above and had a specialist on the phone within 2 minutes. Told him I was concerned about missing some of the shows I watch on AMC and read on sat guys that Dish was giving away a Roku's. He immediately started explaining how the Roku worked and said he would send me one and would also take $30 off my next bill (I didn't even ask) to help pay for those shows that I'm missing. He was very helpful and kept asking if he could help with anything else. I almost asked if they were offering any free premium channels but I didn't want to push my luck or sound greedy.

The only thing, he said it was a Roku HD with a $59.99 value. I thought most people were getting the XD ($79.99 value)? What's the difference in the two?
