DIRECTV Catches Hail Mary for NFL Sunday Ticket - Conference notes

There are a lot of bars who have already forked over $10,000 or more to get the equipment installed for streaming via Everpass. They now all know they just pissed that money away.

I'm good friends with the owner of medium/large bar. He told me one day that for every dollar he invests in the bar he gets $100 in return. Smaller bars are a different story. But yeah, waiting until the last minute to make this decision sucks. Especially after announcing that satellite delivery was going away after last years season.

That's just it, this wasn't an actual investment...nothing was really added to make the bar more attractive to new customers, just money down the drain. They could have used that $10k for something that would have actually been a genuine improvement.

I agree 100 percent. On the bright side I see two advantages to making this investment now. 1. Streaming is immune to rain fade. There is nothing worse than watching a close game and the satellite signal drops. 2. Much better guest internet experience due to increased bandwidth.

i walso wonder about residential subs. since some bought it from YTTV and they said it was so bad they would never pay for it again.. now YTTV has uped there game and made changes.

Unless something changes beyond the anecdotal (significant service outages and/or financial negatives), I don't think there will be any changes to the package's availability or features beyond YT's continued iteration / innovation for the foreseeable future.

As I posted in the other thread, this deal just comes across like an elaborate carriage dispute.

So there will be NFL on Netflix via DTV Satellite? That would better news for bars and clubs that don't even have Sunday Ticket.

Yes, other EverPass services like the Netflix, Peacock and Thursday Night Football games are available to be subscribed to, and distributed through DirecTV.

It's also non-exclusive. Charger signed a deal to bring EverPass to businesses last week.

DirecTV already had distribution of Thursday Night Football before EverPass was formed… now they distribute all of Amazon's Prime Video Sports offerings (including NBA) and Apple TV's MLB, MLS, and F1

Will DTV still be on satellite in eight years?
Possibly ... at this point they can pretty much condense down to only a few Sats, if they haven't already ... depending on how long the fuel lasts, 8 years, maybe.
Probably come up with something better by then.

I believe that Everpass will continue to try to improve thier situation to resolve potential issues they have with the Streaming side.

Personally, I'm glad this change was stopped, it all happened awfully quick ... D* is fully capable of getting the ST to Commercial bars.

I presume streaming will get better, once the issues are resolved, I would imagine most will move to Streaming ... I just don't like the fact that they were being Forced to go that route, without any guarantee of it working.

I'm sure there are many that are now on Streaming and that may hopefully work fine for them.

Those games are not restricted to Bars or Sunday Ticket ...
Commercial establishments like bars are not allowed to stream Netflix or Peacock. Until now the only way for them to legally show their exclusive NFL games was via Everpass's streaming platform or be in the home market of one of the teams playing where it's carried by a local station.

It's the same with Prime Video's Thursday Night Football, except in that case commercial satellite customers got the game on channel 9550 as long as they subscribed to a package with ESPN.

Bars are not allowed to Stream Peacock NBC in thier town ?
Didn't know that ...
So a Bar is not allowed to stream any shows or anything to do with Streaming TV ?

It would seem really odd to allow them to during the day and have to turn it off during a game.

This I did Not know.

Peacock isn't just Sunday Night Football simulcasts, they also had some exclusive NFL games last season.

A Peacock subscription is only for residential use, so even for the NBC simulcasts, they're not allowed to use Peacock to show those games, they have to get NBC OTA or via a business account with a traditional pay TV provider.

They can easily be caught if they use Peacock as their event streams have dynamic ads and a "Peacock will be back soon slate" instead of NBC's commercial breaks, while the linear feed of the local affiliate in the channels section is a very noticible 30 fps instead of 60 fps. The session limit will prevent them from using the smart TV app on more than 3 TVs at the same time, and the app triggers a HDCP warning with most HDMI splitters.

Peacock has also been streaming exclusive NBA games this past season on the first year of that new media deal, which were only available to bars if you had EverPass streaming with the Peacock Sports Pass add-on
