They talked about the migration upgrade of DVRs (HD and SD), but I tuned in late and was not able to get how they are planning to do it.

HD locals and migration boxes will be significant and D* expects a cost on installation and replacement of boxes. Home Media solution by end of year will be wired. By end of 2006 the Home Media Solution will be wireless. Transaction cost for the next two years.

-Spaceway 1 will provide HD LIL for half country by the end of the year.

-They will be going to a lease system for the HMC.

If DirecTv plans on replacing everyone's recievers and updating all locals to HD along with all the other channels by a certain date then Dish Network will have to do the same or lose a LOT of their customer base. In other words, what DirecTv offers Dish Network (and vice versa) will be forced to offer the same thing in order to prevent a signifigant amount of churn.
