You can always get an AM21 and an antenna. That's what I am doing. Most people would be surprised at what you can get with a wineguard 8200U and a preamp. You dont even need the preamp if your less than 60 miles from the transmitters.
I've been doing that for many years now :)

I love it, never have to worry about locals that way.

Raycom is just greedy for money, even if they come to an agreement we'll have the same dance again and again and again.....
It should be free anyway, They'll intentionally have shorter contracts to get more money, Then Dish is next rinse and repeat
I agree ...
I think whenever they do thier contracts they should be for 5 years or longer ..

I live in Jonesboro Arkansas and we have the bad luck of only having one instate local. KAIT which is ABC. We also get KSVS which is CBS. Directv is giving us the national feed of CBS but is not doing that for ABC. Does anyone know why they would only offer one of the National feeds? The general manager of KAIT has stated on their Facebook page that it isn't KAIT blocking them from doing it.

Someone stated earlier that D* is not allowed to turn on other markets when this type of thing happens ... unless I read it wrong.

Consider yourself lucky.

You DO realize that that is an account fee, not a recvr fee, meaning that you pay that once, not on each recvr.
Also do you have any idea what that fee covers ?

That covers your HD FEE (10), your DVR Fee (10) and your Whole Home Fee (3), ALL which is an ACCOUNT fee, paid ONCE, NOT on each item.)

These use to be individual fees several years ago and they basically put them in one ... less confusion that way ...
STILL don't know where 32 dollars comes from unless something else has been added in.
Ah, I see, so that's for everything, and they've just combined it into one description instead of piecing it out on the bill. That's a bit of a relief then. As for the $32, that's the Genie/Genie mini. 25(Adv R)+6(Mini)+1.63(tax)+0.40(tax) is $32.03.

Thanks for telling me. It kind of takes some of the pain off of the sticker shock!

2 days and counting until Week 1 both companies better get their act together, or they'll be a lot of PO customers.
Nobody knows who to believe at this point, But Raycom been having several disputes lately.

From Montgomery Advertiser article

Jeff Rosser, senior vice president at Raycom Media, said Thursday evening that DIRECTV's statement that Raycom is asking for more than twice as much in fees is true.

"That sounds like a lot, doesn't it?" he said. "Twice as much. But you have to stop and think, twice as much as what. Twice as much of a little bit can still be a little bit.

"Since we can't share the details on the fees because they are highly, highly confidential, it makes it easy for them to use that percentage to make it look like we are just being very greedy but we are not asking any more of them than we have achieved with others or asking an amount that is more than is being paid to others that are not viewed nearly as much as our over-the-air broadcast television stations or network affiliates."

Greed at it's finest.

so 'more than twice as much' but 'less than three times as much' but 'still a little bit' ... he was better off not commenting and issuing the vague 'seeking reasonable fees in line with industry standard blah blah'

I think thats the whole issue, they are not asking what the industry is paying, it sounds like they are asking Much more than the Industry avg.
Problem is, IF they get it, then the next company that is up for renewal will Start at that point and want more again.

Well... Raycom only wins when you switch. Because that gives them permission to charge what ever they want to whom ever, and your costs then keeps going up when this happens. Then when costs go up you complain that its Directv's fault, when in reality its the programmers who over charge because they get greedy. The only way to keep this from happening is by not switching and calling Raycom out.
Its not just he programmers its goes all the way back to when a program is produced. There are actors/actresses all the support staff and then never mind production costs.

Just to add a little something different into the discussion - out of curiosity, last night I tried the On Demand for the shut down Cleveland Raycom owned CBS affiliate. It worked just fine. So if one wishes to wait for a few weeks, they can catch up on missed shows. Of course the NFL games I don't believe are available on OD. But knowing this may be helpful to some.

The OD stuff comes from Corp CBS and not from your local station. The NFL ST OD stuff comes from the NFL and once again not your local station. Any disputes has no affect on the corp stuff unless they were in dispute with Viacom which owns that OD material.

A few months ago I bought 2 ten foot poles (masts) from Radio Shack $40, Bought 2 OTA UHF/VHF HD antennas ( $29 each ), Pointed one to to a Big Town 3 hours away ( 8 stations ) and the other to a cluster of Local Towers ( 3 main cbs, nbc, abc that had 2 to 3 signals each = 8 New Stations ).. so I get 17 FREE STATIONS ( 3 Different CW's, one with 1970's/ 80's tv which I LOVE ) .. So So Worth it ! You can either run it Straight into your TV with it's own Input or Dish has a HD convert box you can buy that will put the OTA stations in the Dish Guide. .. No More Local STation Rain Black Outs !

Yup, D* has had that ability for a long time and the OTA stuff gets integrated into the D* guide.
No need to change outputs.
