Hey guys, my 921 bit the dust about a year ago and I just got around to opening it up. I searched on line and found the exact model hard drive for $59. If I swap out the hard drive, will the DVR recognize it and format it and make it usable?

Thanks.

Darrell

Yes, but...

Read some of the threads in the Dishnetwork forum about how there will be no more MPEG-2 HD available after Aug 1. It would be an SD ony machine after then.

I would bundle it back up and call DISH. You should be able to get a 722 for the same $$ as the replacement HD, especially if you had DHPP on it.

I don't care about Dish programming, I no longer have a subscription. I use it only for OTA recording and I sure miss my OTA HD. I've been using my Panny DVR and it outputs in 480p and is quite crisp, but not HD. :(

I still need to know if a replacement drive will work or not.

Any of the old techies from the 921 era still out there?
