DISH Network Statement Regarding Senate Commerce Committee Video Competition hearing

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – March 11, 2010 – DISH Network L.L.C., a subsidiary of DISH Network Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH), issued the following statement regarding the Senate Commerce Committee’s hearing on video competition that included testimony on retransmission consent:
“DISH Network applauds any effort by Chairman Genachowski to review the outmoded retransmission consent rules from the early 1990s. Contrary to broadcaster assertions, retransmission consent increasingly resembles a hostage situation, not a free market negotiation.”

Any thing that could help drive costs down is a plus as long the cost savings is past to the customer as well. You gotta think cable prices will reach a point when real action from congress will be looked at.
