It says both.

Could somebody explain this to me?
As far as I know Hopper plus is a small gadget you attach to Hopper 3's usb port. It provides many Google apps and streaming from different sources.

So, is it for people who currently do not use external streaming devices such as Fire stick, Roku, etc.?

I currently use Fire stick and Roku and very satisfied with them. Does it make any sense to go ahead and get the "plus" device from Dish and unattach Stick and Roku?

If a smart tv has enough hdmi ports (3 or more) who cares about tidying up around tv?
All I currently do is change the tv's video input (hdmi) and stream from Fire stick or Roku.
 
Called a couple of days ago for my mother-in-law and got $15 off her current package. Price lock for two years. Also a one time $40 credit. Oh, and two new remotes for free. That's what the original call was for. Yes she had to agree to a 2 year contract.

Does Dish allow price lock on any package? I wonder if the least expensive packages don't qualify. I have Welcome package which is plenty for the family.
 
So those naysayers who keep predicting Dish’s demise can see that Dish plans to stick around for at least three years. I plan to stick with Dish and my two Hopper3 and Joey3 since they work well. Of course I don’t plan to get a Hopper+ with all of its problems. I think Dish is alienating new and existing customers by releasing a product that is not ready for use.
 
Its no secret I haven't been a fan of the Hopper Plus, but the last few beta software releases have given me hope. I just don't know when this software is going to be released to the customers.

With that said my wife and I simulated cutting the cord and removed satellite from the main tv we use and tried just streaming. It was horrible. We both love the Hopper 3 so much and when the Plus is fully stable (and its getting close!) it will be a great addition to the Hopper 3 ecosystem. :)

Is DISH requiring new customers to get a Hopper+? I would hope not. Personally, I use multi-view too much to get a Hopper+ unless or until they add that functionality to it. I would hope they wouldn't require any customer to get a product missing features they want if another product (regular Hopper) they offer would meet their needs.
