This is my first expierence with the 922. Its easy to program satellites when they
are in the clear or your sub'd. But whats the easiest way to do it when there not.
I know pretty close where the sats are. I am just moving dish to highest picture quality and storing. Is there a better way?

Thanks

Hmmm, interesting question - never really thought about it!

I use a combination of FTA and 4DTV (2 receivers) and with both I'm able to identify whatever satellite I'm on - well that and the use of LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite !

FTA blindscans are good for this kind of thing, even if the signal is encrypted, they do tend to carry what I call "idents" - channel information.

4DTV - make sure your channel map is up-to-date (G1-3) and make educated guesses based upon how far you've moved your dish. There are still some VC2 channels that we can't sub, but they tool carry "idents" so as long as you've got a VC2 board in the 4DTV unit they will lock.
