Here are the release notes for the Dish Network DTVPal DVR Software version F207.

* Trick modes such as skip forward / backwards now have a
consistent (smoother) frame rate. This is now comparable to many
DISH Network DVRs.

* Added an additional recording option while viewing current
program.

* Trick-modes are now functional when 2 recordings are active.

* Improved handling of low and no signal.

* Added option to switch on/off use of TV Guide On Screen data in
the electronic program guide supplied by DISH Network. This gives
user the option to view the PSIP guide supplied by the over the
air station, if available.

* Improved support for disk full.

* Deliver additional convenience for deleting a recorded event by
adding a delete button in the 'DVR event' screen after a
recording has finished.

* Added low battery notification for the remote control, a popular
feature for DISH Network subscribers.

* Added mode reminder popup to remind the viewer if the remote
control is not currently set in the DTVPal DVR mode. For instance, it
might be set in the TV, VCR, or Auxiliary mode.

And now the big question. Where can I buy one of them since they have been "fixed"? The internet site said I needed to call in after I entered all of my information. Did not feel the urge to call and talk to someone from overseas so didn't get it.

Is this release available for download?

Yes. However, to my knowledge, no one has been able to confirm a single improvement over 206 that affects all DTVPal DVRs, and several people have reported new problems after upgrading. As noted above, the release notes are for improvements over 202, not 206. Many of the problems people are having with clock and guide irregularities seem to be due to poor maintenance by local stations rather than the unit itself. That said, there are probably bugs in the way the Pal DVR handles errors in the data stream that affect people in some locations, but not others. And it may be that 207 addresses one or more of these problems.

Note that once you upgrade you CANNOT go back to an earlier version of the firmware. So the best advice at this point is not to upgrade from 206 to 207 unless you have a problem that is serious enough that you feel you have nothing to lose by taking a chance with it.
