Here's some food for thought.... they said 5 new HD markets with E-14. Now I'm seeing way more than 5 new transponders out there for HD locals. You only need to take away the one transponder on the beam that is being used over San Francisco right now. Sure makes you go hmmmm....when you see all those spotbeams running in 8PSK over the 48 states.

They don't generally make too big a splash when they expand HD LiL offerings. Perhaps we will see a bunch more CWs, PBSs, and Mys. I'm holding out dim hope for my local PBS and CW (although with little space on the EA spot with mirrored locals for us, I'm not counting on it, not to mention there is only 1 TP for all of the Ohio and Indiana spot). Plus, there is the possibility of fulltime HD RSNs on spots.

I would assume that this is for future expansion, i.e. post Castro.

Yep, there was even a filing with the FCC to turn these on a while back. Another interesting note is E7 had a spotbeam over Mexico City, E14 does not. Of course that is being handled by another system now.

I updated the 5 HD local DMA's planned on the beams I believe they will be on.

As much as I'd love to have a PBS in HD, either WNJN or WNET, another possibility is for Univision in HD, since they'll show the Fifa World Cup in June in HD.

Since Dish is required to carry all stations in HD if they carry any in a market (in 3 years), the are probably going to use the extra capacity to carry the secondary stations in HD. It is not like they are going to be launching a bunch of new satellites to Western Arc in the next couple years, they have to do it with this capacity.

Any timeframe on when these may be coning online, Ive been waiting over a year for my HD locals out of Wichita. IVe heard one person say the end of the month.

The satellite is still at 138W undergoing testing. Last schedule date I saw for traffic transfer from E7 to E14 will start on 5/21. If everything goes to plan I'd expect them to start getting new locals fired up around this time. Maybe within a month after 5/21?

I imagine it depends on what spots are planned for the EA with the arrival new sats. If they have a spot planned for the Evansville, IN DMA I think you will go up on 77W along with the QC and Padukah. If not, you probably have a chance for E14.

Evansville was uplinked to 77W way back in November . I am hoping they move it over to E14.

Would like to see Colorado Springs DMA HD LiLs shifted off the present 129 spotbeam that is aimed at northern New Mexico. E14 has a couple beams that would work well.
