Enjoy 107w While It Lasts

Now that's just mean! :rolleyes
Ctv, 93% quality with a crappy LNBF from somebody in Houston that had bought an 8 foot dish from Tech 2000. HOA! Need I say more? He sent me so many lnbfs, I do not know where they came from! I am sure that Tech 2000 only sold him one lnbf with that 8 foot dish. I think he just threw every one he had in the boxes, most were damaged, or out of round.

But back to CTV on 119, I watched the Harry Potter movie today just as well as I could have on the old sat! Which was 107.

Stretching my memory a little bit, it is a Turbo 4200-CK10, and it also has PBI on it.

This has got me going after a lightning strike back at the end of June! It knocked out my Norsat C-band lnb, my skew motor, and my Titanium ASC1 dish mover!

I had bought a second ASC1 when I found they going away, so that was OK.Or so I thought! I could now move the dish but I could not get any signals!

I then replaced the LNB with the WS international c-band that was in my metal shop less than 30 feet away the dish. Still no signal! I was NOT using shielded wire, that makes the skew motor jump around like crazy when lighting hits in the area!

I got a friend to come listen for the skew- no go! Replaced it! Still no signal with good skew motor movement!

Ran new RG6 cable to the WS LNB, no signal, reinstalled the Norsat, no signal.

I had noticed that signal and quality were very low so I called Rick, he asked if I had an LNBF and I said that I did! He said to plug it in the house, the higher reading it gave means it is good!

He was right!

I re-tuned my SAMI 7.5ft dish, and I can now get all the CTV channels on 119!

I double-checked the azimuth, and it was a hair off from True South. I could lift the edge of the dish and get a stronger signal on 119. I motored over to 55.5W, and noticed that I got better signal when I pulled DOWN on the dish. So, I slightly rotated the mount clockwise, and locked it back down again. Had to re-save each of the sat positions about 5 clicks to the East, but it's now completely peaked all the way across the arc again. This was enough for the CTV channels to finally lock.

By the way, I've been re-habbing my old Perfect-10 10ft dish the last few days, and I think I'm going to replace the SAMI 7.5ft dish. It's now got new flat black paint (over the former gray) to match the SAMI.

Once I manage to get it all installed, it should give me a nice bump-up in overall signal.

Hi all,

Well today I did some adjusting to my dish and actuator and I can now receive some of 119w. Can’t get the CTV channels yet as some of my trees are still holding on to their leaves for the time being, even after all the wild weather we’ve been having lately. I can receive the weather and govt. channels however at 8.9 - 9.3 db.

Do you have an Android phone? If so, load this app. You can connect to your Mio from out at the dish, and watch while you test and make changes. Because of it, I was able to move my dish just 1/4inch clockwise, and brought my signal level up enough on 119 to get the CTV channels. You can slightly lift, OR push down, and see if signal is better or worse, etc.
