If you were thinking about going Blu, this might be a reasonable cost way to get there.

Sony card promo: Sony Gateway
Sign up for the Sony Card and get a $100 credit when you purchase a PS3 from an authorized Sony retailer. (Amazon counts) Additionally each purchase over $299 in the first 45 days of using the card gets 0% interest for 12 months.

So to purchase from Amazon would be:

Sony PS3 40GB $399.99
Blu-Ray remote for PS3 $19.99
Shipping $0.00
Amazon HD-DVD credit -$50.00
Sony Card credit -$100.00

Total cost: $269.98

With 0% interest, cost per month: $22.50 for 12 months.

IMHO, the only Blu-Ray players worth buying right now are the PS3 and the LG BH200. The PS3 is $300 via E-bay or via Sony's deal. The LG BH200 is about $400-450 grey market or $600 from a retailer. E-tailers are, of course, in between.

so i was aproved by sony for their card, so now wat? how do i know im going to get the 100 bucks off the ps3 (whenever the card shows up)

Is there a codei need to use?

It sounds like your first purchase of $299+ (regardless if it is for a PS3 or not) will get you a $100 credit for using the card, according to the folks on the fatwallet forums.

I should find out for sure in a couple days when the transactions post to the card.

The Amazon total is $400 (PS3) + $20 (BluRay remote) - $50 credit + $15 2nd day air shipping. The $100 credit posted right away:

Code:
05/01/2008	05/01/2008	Adjustment	New Cardmember Credit(Other)	{Transaction ID}
	$-100.00
04/29/2008	04/29/2008	Sale	Amazon.com(Services and Merchandise)	{Transaction ID}
	$384.94

I applied for the card on the sonystyle site and was immediately allowed to purchase the PS3 online. The 100 dollar credit will appear on your statement. Sooner if you watch your sonystyle account online. I dont think you need to do anything except use the card at an approved store for over a 299 dollar purchase for sony equipment.
