Do you have alink to the lawsuit? I would be interested in reading it.
I am not as sure as youa re that the 1/07 date is tied to a change in the packages. I think it is possible that was the beginning of the CURRENT agreement with Fox. I find it hard to believe that they are under the same agreement they had in 1998. But reading the lawsuit would likely tell us.

The part about "right wing propaganda for the intellectually impaired" might qulaify. I don't think that it is THAT bad but we could do without it.

No need to apologize, I just read several news releases carefully, word by word. I wish I could dig up the actual 1998 agreement and find out when it would expire. It seems the timing is so close to the big 10 years I suspect E* and FOX are due for a renewal soon, and we all know how they would try to position themselves for that moment.
As far as that offensive post, I can see how some folks can feel that way, but it goes the other way too. I think you mods had done a good job trying to have a control over the riot yet not to remove everything someone finds offensive so the thread is not totally boring.
Thats why this is the best board on the net. They don't censor opinions unless they really have to.

Maybe this is a ploy by AT&T to devalue DISH and then buy it up cheap. Buying a company like DISH while its stock is at a 52 week low would be a good move financially. Does Rupert owe someone at AT&T a favor?

!st off, let me say that I don't think any of the business channels are all that great, but FBCHD is NO better than the others, IMO, and probably worse. Same goes for the "news" channels, they all pretty much suck, IMO. CNN was good when they started, but that is long gone. Fox was fresh, but now that is gone. MSNBC & CNBC never were.
I was looking forward to Dave Ramsey's show and it is interesting (he has some valid points about consumer finance), but even Dave is no better in HD than he is on radio, so that wore off pretty quickly.
As for the contract dispute, you can bet this one is for something in the ways the 2 parties are "interpreting" the contract. The ONLY way it will be resolved is through negotiations or a a trial. Chuckie's track record on lawsuits sucks, so you can bet his legal team will resolve this issue in pretty short order, there is no way in hell that all of the Fox programming will leave E*, short of E* filing bankruptcy. NOT gonna happen, NEVER. This is not CourtTV or WE, those were channels with viewers, but not as many as the FOX networks have. Also, those who are ranting that old Rupie owns D* better check their facts, he has "an interest" in it which is a long way from "owning" it. Also. Rupie is trying to swap his interest to Liberty Media, which is still under federal review, so does he care long term about D* and is it a game? No, on both counts.
Much ado about NOTHING, it seems to me.

true enough but there is nothing like a controversy involving either DISH or Fox to get people's blood boiling and this one involves both.

I work at call center for dish network and im gonna say that top 200 is probably a wider package than top 100/ and why would fox news just now decide that they want to sue if its already december? that makes no since, i would like to know the outcome of that debate.
A long time ago I had the AT60 package and only watched CNN, since FoxNews was not in the package, would have been great. I upgraded to AT120 to see what all the hubhub was about due to many people talked about FoxNews and how biased CNN was. With internet news and other news channels, there is a better understanding of what is going on in the world and how bias comes through, for example leaving out certain details.
FoxNews morning show is a joke, guess they are copying CBS/NBC/ABC morning shows. Enjoy Brit Hume's nightly news and FoxNews Sunday. As far as shows like H&C, Lou Dobbs, etc, they scratch the surface of an issue within their 5-7min segment and then on to the next issue. They should take 20-30mins to discuss an issue.

As far as Fox Business being more for people with little or no understanding of the market- I think what you are really hearing is that the channel was designed to appeal to a broader audience. They cover the markets, but they also have shows with good down to earth financial advice for the common folk, like the Dave Ramsey show. So what you are hearing isn't necessarily a bad thing is it? Reaching out to a broader audience is what will push them ahead of CNBC in the ratings. And they will, given time. In fact, I think they will have an easier time beating CNBC than Fox News had beating CNN. It is a smaller hurdle to overcome.
As opposed to the leftest socialist tripe the so called mainstream news organizations spew.

One could say the same about any other channel though.. There are channels that people want and if they don't get them then they weigh things out.
I couldn't give less of a turd about Lifetime, but other people in the household do watch it and were disappointed when E* was in dispute about it.

Politics aside, a news channel these days is kinda hard to take seriously.
Yeah, I don't watch any of them. Catch the local TV news once in a while and the rest I get from the internet and local newspaper.
