Good idea to physically combine two ku band dishes?

I have 3 DIRECTV dishes with the images below. Could I stack two of them and have one lnb? Or is this just a really dumb question, I’m kind of a noob.

in theory, it might be possible. You would have to make a feedhorn with waveguides that bring both signals together with the exact same phase (equal length of waveguide).

in practicality, this would be very difficult to achieve, abd it would be much easier and cheaper to just get a 90 cm dish (and also much more reliable)

I think someone posted here about such experiment some years ago (I want to say, around 2016-2018) and if I remember well it was not successful

Interesting. There was a fellow in the NL a few years ago who placed 3 & 4 small ku dishes in a clover leaf pattern and built a tripod for prime focus lnbf. The before and after signal strengths showed that it worked pretty well.

Unless you want get into radio astronomy, that concept is based on VLA " Very Large Arrays" which we have it here in New Mexico.

Single dish preferred 1.2 meter sized for Ku band reception is all you need.

However if you live in far West or East or living in Alaska, Hawaii or some exotic place, then you need a bigger dish and being on C band "8 to 10 foots sized dish" will get you better signal spillovers. :hungry2 :hatsoff

yes I think that's the one I remember, but could not remember what the result was

Here it is, the project clover by Trust :

Conclusion seems to be 27 februari 2017 :
Helaas nog steeds geen beter signaal als met één TDS64 in standaard opstelling .
