I thought I was a channel surfer until I discovered FTA.

FTA gives a whole new meaning to channel surfing.

I now edit channel info and surf so bad, my FTA Remote Control Unit eats batteries faster than I can buy them.

I'm going to hook my RCU to a wall wart. That should fix the problem. :eureka

Well, that's going to wear out the buttons, as well.

However, I can see a SatGuy's mod with some battery contacts on the rear of the remote.
Purpose would be so you could drop your remote into a charger while not holding it.
Serves two purposes: charges battery, and gives you a proper place to leave the remote so you can find it again.

Of course, I suppose a little jack on the side to plug in power or charge would be okay, too.

I think you should patent the idea. Just put my name on the paperwork as a co-inventor.
My Dad had a patent, and I always though of that as the highest award you could have.

Aaaaaaaah, but see? If you put it on a wall wart, you can find it faster. Just trace it from the wall back to the remote. If you forget to drop it into the charger, you can lose it in the laundry basket (something my wife likes to do).

Patent Pending.

all chained up

Well, if loss of remote is a regular symptom,

Dr Anole prescribes:
. . . . . take two yards of chain and call me in the morning!
Please pay at the door, on your way out. -
