First, it's NOT a Dreambox, I don't know why that's in the description.

Second, we don't do card sharing here.

Bad advertising

This is a clear example of this.

1 - CPU is not 300 .. it runs at 300mhz and its an Ali M3602 procesor (MIPS-SDE)

2 - Its not linux its an RTOS = SYS_OS_MODULE = "ALI_TDS2"

3 - Sadly it dont support 4:2:2 .. not even on low bitrate SD stream.

One thing checked by me with same setup (MCU M3602 and demod M3501)
it support hardware blind scan not like fortec or azbox software blind scan.

Full satellite search KU band V and H in about 4 minutes ..exactly like his older
SD brother Ali M3329B/C/E (traxis).

On DVB-S2 C band HD scan has some flaws ... some channels are missing ,
and also lack of manual input of parametrs (8PSK, Pilot, etc).

If you can read spanish we have pretty much same STB here in South America (az-america[dot]com)
I am checking now software posted on this thread on it. (AZ-america Model S900-HD)

Also have here AZBOX Elite HD (Sigma MCU) and linux OS with some closed source drivers ..
and it can do 4:2:2 ... at least with latest image and on SD
moderated bitrate FEEDs.

I dont know if this guy dvbworld is the same of USB SAT boxes ,
those are excellent products and are very well advertised ... dont know why
he dont speak the truth about this little and powerfull receiver.

Still a lot of work need to be done on Software development ... some good examples are
exact same hardware clone of this.

Ferguson Ariva 200
Hiremco X3 Turbo HD
Smart MX04HDCA
Megasat HD800
Skymaster DXH900
Comag SL100 / SL50
Vizyon 1000HD
SETone HD4U
OpenSky 9300HD

Just my two cents on this.-

size of s/w is little different for both boxes....AZ America S900 HD and 'HD PVR800, then we cannot use the s/w between two boxes or vice versa ?!!!

I may try later. :)
I am first going to see if I can Load the proper Firmware via RS232.
Then try the Channel Editor.
If that is successful, I may load the AZ firmware.

my advice is , before upgrade any clone s/w, first take the full dump of the original box after if flash corrupt then we can recover the box by the original flash dump!

Is a Full Dump anything different than downloading the existing Firmware via RS232?
full dump means "full firmware and s/w" stored in "flash ic" , if any thing wrong happened cozed by clone s/w then ur box will not boot any more...after that u can program the flash ic with already taken flash dump file then ur box will recover again!
BTW, u can read and store the dump file from the flash ic via "lab tool" only!

Would this be the same channel editor used in the Traxis DBS3500 (aka AliEditor) ?
...It's kinda flaky but it does work with the 3500
That I don't know, I don't think I ever used the editor for my Traxis. :)

Just tried the Traxis Editor and it does not work with the files I saved from the Sathawk.
But it is encouraging it's uses a similar file format, so we may see some updates.

There looks to be several versions of this editor on their site, not sure whether they differ that much, but they are quick to tell you NOT to use the wrong one...
I'm gonna bet that somebody finds something that will work. hopeful anyway

You can check channel editor from any clone on the list.

But I dont recommend use S900 sw on your receiver ....cause they use
different bootloader and a special MCU for anti clone protection.
I am doing the other way around ... checking Sathawk sw on S900 hardware,
cause dont use mcu protection ... just some crc checks and size on headers.

I am only checking maincode part with a special bootloader only to
check look and feel.

AZ-loader use Ali Erom technology ... a minimum bootloader is used on flash
and all bootloader code is loaded in ram from 232 and started from there.
You can safely check to dump firmware code on sathawks with az-loader (full flash contents).
Dont know in sathawk mainboard but on S900 you have MIPS EJtag port,
and can use Sergiuss Jtag software (icegsm[dot]narod[dot]ru) to backup first.

I dont know rules about posting direct external links so I disabled it.
If you want to try different channel editors I can post them here with moderator permission.

Regards.-

If you want to try different channel editors
Any of the Editors allow the PIDs to be changed? Manual PID entry seems to be missing in the Sathawk, which is needed for a few channels.
Also, the Sathawk does not allow the use of a Motor and Switch, can any of the other units do it?

Will check with different editors for pid change, Motor and Diseq switch
can not be used together on almost all Ali based STB not only on new M3602 models.

If you know some Ali based STB who can work in such a setup please point me to
his firmware , I will be glad to disassembly and try to make a fix for others.

I believe the Traxis units are Ali based. I've read that the early firmware had same issue with Motor and Switch.
