Hi all, My "leased" HD24 DVR (own 2, lease one) HDD started making alot of noise a few days ago. Now, when used a few hours it will shut down saying its overheated and needs to cool down. Basically, its sitting un-used now. Looking for best way to resolve this issue.

Can I call DTV to replace or do I need their "warranty plan"? THX!

Call them ....

Btw, you could try a fan in the area to vent it if you wanted to try to use it.

That's VERY hot! I would call Directv and tell them about it. They should replace it since it's so hot. There is no equipment charge, but they may charge a $19.95 shipping charge, but if you ask they may waive the charge.

My HR34 is weird, one minute it'll say 106, and another it's 122, then it's 104. It's in a cubby, but plenty of room and the front and back are open. That being said, 140 is smokin :)
