HD24 DVR overheated

Hi all, My "leased" HD24 DVR (own 2, lease one) HDD started making alot of noise a few days ago. Now, when used a few hours it will shut down saying its overheated and needs to cool down. Basically, its sitting un-used now. Looking for best way to resolve this issue.

Can I call DTV to replace or do I need their "warranty plan"? THX!

Call them ....

Btw, you could try a fan in the area to vent it if you wanted to try to use it.

What temperature is the HR24 reporting?

Its been on an hour, already at 140 degrees no noise yet.

That's VERY hot! I would call Directv and tell them about it. They should replace it since it's so hot. There is no equipment charge, but they may charge a $19.95 shipping charge, but if you ask they may waive the charge.

My receiver says 145 degrees and now is cooling down, HR24-100

In contrast, My HR24-100 is running at 115* and my HR24-500 is at 115* !

My HR34 is weird, one minute it'll say 106, and another it's 122, then it's 104. It's in a cubby, but plenty of room and the front and back are open. That being said, 140 is smokin

Tink the temp swings has to do with whats going on inside.
