Help aiming dish and finding signal

his is what I have done/tried so far

Made sure the pole was plum/straight/vertical
Adjusted the elevation according to where I am at
Using my compass aimed the dish at a satellite

I am using a satellite finder meter

I am making tiny adjustments to the elevation
tightening the bolt, then slowly scanning the
sky back and forth then readjusting and continuing.
Still no luck after several hours of trying on
different days.

I tested the meter to make sure it was working
by hooking up to my dishnetwork satellite and
it does beep, light up and give a signal.

Any suggestions.

Questions:
I have the receiver on, do I need to do anything
on the setup of the receiver or should I get a
signal with my meter either way.

How slow do I need to do the side to side azimuth
movements. If I am moving too fast shouldn't I still
get a quick beep(s) as I pass by a satellite(s)?

Could the LNB be bad, since I have done several
receiver resets with it hooked up. I thought I
read someplace this can make the LNB go bad.

Even if my plumb is off shouldn't I still be
able to pick up a signal by adjusting the
elevation to offset for it?

According to dishpointer.com my location info (54703 zip) and truth south
satellite is:

I have been using my starting point elevation as 38.4
but I noticed my dishnetwork and directv satellites
elevations are set at 33 and 34 so I have tried there
also.

My LNB has some lines on the end of it, is this the skew? There isn't
a setup for this on the back of the dish like there is for my dishnetwork
and directv one. I did try slightly turning it .5 and 1.5 (best I could tell
as they are just little tics) both ways as is listed in dishpointer.
Still nothing

The Equipment I am using was bought from Sadoun and is:

Sadound CLASSIC NA Receiver

DG240 Motor (not currently using as it was bad and they are shipping another one)

FS80P 31" Dish

ULN1 0.4dB LNBF

Universal wall mount

What receiver LNB settings are being used? Standard LO frequency is 10750 Mhz, Universal is 10600. I can't tell from what is posted. Diseqc switch setting? Try setup without the switch.

The LNB is universal so use the settings of 10600 or 10600/9750.

I haven't even really looked at the receiver. It is my neighbors dish
so I am helping hiim with it. How do we set up this setting? I don't
think I have a switch on it. It goes directly from the LNB to
the TV. I will take a look at it tomorrow. Thanks for the help guys.

It is MUCH harder to aim at a Ku FSS satellite such as 93w than it is to aim at a DBS satellite such as 119w, for example. VERY slow movements of the dish are necessary, less than 1/8th of an inch can make the difference between no signal and the highest signal.
