Just had a hopper and joey installed with new service yesterday. Is there any benefit to connecting the joey to my wired home network in addition to the hopper?

I don't think so, as the Joey should be able to access the on demand stuff without a connection

nope..if your hopper is already connected you don't need the joey to be hook up..if you do, your joeys could unlink from the hopper...could the installer have used a hic instead?

hic???
Everything appears to be working fine as is.
It would be easy to hook up the joey to the network but I would only do so if it would add functionality.

I have 2 Hoppers and 2 Joeys each individually hardwired to ethernet. No 'unlinking' or other side effects to my knowledge. The installer said it wasn't necessary but shouldn't be any better or worse.

All 4 have dropouts when streaming local video, but I assume that is buggy DLNA code.
