I need info on new hopper plus

Just as an FYI if you have a robust and reliable Wi-Fi network you can make any wired Joey wireless using a Wi-Fi bridge. The TP-Link AC750 in the attached picture operating in bridge mode is the one I use on my Joey 4 in a room where the cable jack is in the wrong place. I used it with a TiVo mini for more than a year as well. Never an issue with it. You do need strong WiFi. I have a stable 150MB+ in that room. this is not supported by Dish or TiVo but wanted to share because it works and it is inexpensive.

The 40.0 is not compatible with the Android boxes, only the 54 remotes are supported.
According to Partysox, the 50.0 remotes also work for the most part. The only button on that model that doesn't work is the Apps button. I'm just putting this out there in case anyone is looking for an alternative to the 54 remotes that will still work.

Now, if only Dish would allow these devices to work without requiring the Hopper to be activated, then it might make things easier for everyone...
Pay for the lease fee of $25 and then disconnect it. I do think you can activate the Joey 4 directly with the Hopper 3 if Dish would allow that or when there is plenty of supplies from outside stores.

The software that downloads over the satellite that brings you up to the most current version and has all of the PE software is the same thing that you’re getting off the USB stick. When we get a hopper off the van, it’s behind several versions and the USB drive is what we use to bring it up to the most current, which is the same thing that you would get off the satellite. I’m not really sure what those ATV files are because we don’t use them during the install process. As for the hopper plus, that download it does comes through your Internet, not off of the hopper

Thanks. Those ATV files seem to match up with what is on the Joey's and the Hopper + I think. So USB software is really getting the Hopper 3 updated fresh off the van. Thanks again! I have created a RA to return my Hopper + that clearly is the issue. Not that I need one right away but wanted to at least get a working one in case I decide to use the Hopper +. Right now I am fine without it working as the Joey 4's are working without it.

For my already installed Hopper 3 the technician's first step was to download the Hopper ATV files from the tools menu. The technician liked your idea HipKat using the USB stick for initial install Hoppers but that would be hard for him to do since he is an internal DISH technician. Great idea for contractors. My H+ install was I think pretty fast considering he had four Joey 4s to set up too. It was only about 2.5 hours. That included him setting up a soundbar demo and we had lots of smoke breaks and BSing.

Yeah, I’ve had that conversation with internal guys and why they can’t be a little bit more proactive about downloading hoppers at home recorder. I keep waiting for the day when I get to go do a job for somebody that hangs out on here lol

Go to the Diagnostics screen (the one from the second photo that needs to be censored) and then go to Tools > Technician Settings > Download ATV Files
Here is my screen. The backup is only to a remote control. I tried plugging in a empty thumb drive and still no change?

My old Hopper I made sure it was updated before he started. When it failed, he pulled another sealed one off his truck, he only activated it then confirmed live video and went straight to the thumb drive.
