Is it possible to look for an earlier install date online without losing the current date/time I have set for an installation? Would it be easier to just call and ask?

I would call and see if they have had any cancellations.

You can go online to D* website and find a local retailer. That's what I did. They got me hooked up in 5 days. D* was going to be 2 1/2 weeks.

Can they take my existing order from Directv directly if I go through a local retailer?

I don't know. I put my order in with the Local Retailer.

no, they can't take your existing order. But they can rebuild it. If you post what deal you're getting, we can advise you better. Most retailers can get you in next day.
