I happened to be typing another post in the AZBox area, looked up at my TV and AZBox to see if my recording of The Rockford Files was underway, as the show was just starting.

I happened to notice that it showed: DIRECTED BY.... Ivan Dixon

I am not always good with names, but I am certain that Ivan Dixon was the prisoner Kinchloe on Hogan's Heros. I looked it up and sure enough, he was a producer as well as an actor!

I watch Hogan's Heroes every day, and recognized the name immediately.
Always wondered why he didn't stay to the end of that series, and where he went aftewards.
Thanks for the update.

Here's a couple more...

I was surprised to notice that Howard Morris that played Ernest T. Bass, on the Andy Griffith Show also directed some of the episodes.

Also Jerry Paris, that played the next door neighbor on the Dick VanDyke Show, directed many episodes of Happy Days.

Use to watch Bob Ross painting on PBS and one day I was watching Andy Griffith Show, and noticed that the background drawing look alot like Ross's work...sure enough, his name scrolled by during the credits.

what am I missing? a lot of people act and direct (or are producers/exec producers) episodes of shows nowdays. I don't see why the old days/shows seem surprising in that sense unless it's just another thing way before my time.

I used to work at a golf course that Joe Santos (Sgt. Dennis Becker) from the Rockford Files frequented. Unfortunately, the man is a (insert your favorite obscenity), so every time I see the Rockford Files I can't help but think of that guy. Kinda' ruined the show for me, which is a shame, since I think James Garner is great.

Every once in awhile I'll stop and watch Bob Ross. He had to be one of the calmest individuals I have ever seen. Kinda' amusing when he showed videos of him and his pet squirrel. :)
