Hi, I was just wondering what satellite international channels are on. I am asking this because the channel listing says I need a Dish500+ to get the channels off 118.7, but my father has international channels and i know for a fact he does not have a dish500+ system. I'm pretty sure he has a wing dish pointing at 61.5.

Anybody know for sure what satellite the channels are on?

all internationals are on 118.7

Dish has been slowly moving international channels off of 61.5 and upgrading those folks to 118.7

Yes I do belive that this has changed. Just did an install the other day where a customer ordered just international channels. They got a 222 and 1000.4.

What sucks is all the wasted time switching customers to that PIA 500+.

I just checked and LOTS of Int'l are on 118.7 and they aren't on 61.5

But wired 119W and most of the time 110W also thru a switch by three reasons: future revenue from core/premium/PPV/sport channels and EEPG ( 7 days guide) and SW updates.

If they have Eastern Arc why would they add 110/119???

rjruby asked
Won't the internationals stay on 61.5 for the eastern arc folks?
which is what I responded to ;)

72.7 has the EEPG

I have EA and WA, but my setup is the following for the following reasons:

61.5 -- for PI channels such as Pentagon channel
110 -- AAD HD Distants
118 -- Internationals, I have French Bouquet Package
119 -- AAD SD Distants
129 -- Stronger signal than 61.5, plus some HDPPV not on 61.5

I have 77 and 72 outside I could feed into my DPP44 if needed, I had 77 instead of 129 for a while (I "moved" and used a city on ConUS at 77)

Clarification please !

nope. They add a D500+ and use 118.7 only

Thanks for your response but I need some clarification.

I live about 45 miles north of Philly and have a D500 (110/119) and D300 (61.5) connected through a SW 64 to my 3 receivers (622, 211, 211k).

I subscribe to AEP, Philly locals, Gold/Platinum HD, superstation and the Arabic Elite packages.

What should my antenna configuration be based on the various antenna options (D1000+, D1000.2, D1000.4, D500+)?

Will I still end up with 2 antennas? I thought one of the advantages of the eastern arc was to have a one antenna solution.

What must I do to have Dish upgrade my installation to the required final configuration?

Thanks for your help.

Bob

right now I show the Arabic Elite pack as on both 61.5 & 118

But the Arabic SUPER Elite Pack has channels ONLY on 118.7. From the DIsh site, the channels that start with a 7 are on 118.7 only (the Arabic channels on 61.5 are in the 600's)

ABU DHABI 767
AL ARABIYA 772
AL JAZEERA 645
AL ZIKR 665
ART AMERICA 642
ART MOVIES 643
ART MUSIC 669
ART SPORTS 601
BBC ARABIC 606
DUBAI SATELLITE CHANNEL 649
DUBAI SPORTS 659
Dream 2 769
ESC-1 646
EuroNews 784
FUTURE TV 648
HEKAYAT 777
LBC 760
MBC 670
NBN 770
NEW TV 774
NILE DRAMA 647

If you upgraded they would still use two dishes. Either a D500+ for core programming & Internationals and 61.5 for your locals in HD (I know Philly doesnt have a RSN on satellite) and the HD programming.

If they do a Eastern Arc, they STILL need two dishes. EA for everything BUT Internationals. Then a second dish for 118.7 only

again, the point is moot right now unless you upgrade your arabic pack.
