Just got off phone with DTV

They told me I had to switch from total choice plus to total choice extra for access to the new HD chans which they said are coming NEXT week.need second person to confirm this. looks like we won't be getting HD till next week and only if you call up and make the adjustments yourself

That's interesting. I just assumed since I have Total Choice Plus with HD that I would get the new channels. Like to hear more about this and have it confirmed.

Hummm their own FAQ states

How do I know what HD channels I'll get?

For the channels in your current programming package, you'll automatically receive the HD versions that are offered as long as you have the HD Access service.

Dunno Why they made me get the Total Choice Extra then.they said it was just to get the HD simulcast they are launching next week.I'm going to guess that they are going to change that on their web page soon "all rights reserved" and all that.

remove the Total from the name of the packages. It's just Choice, Choice XTRA, PLUS DVR, PLUS HDDVR, and PREMIER.
