Macbook question

Are there any utilities I can run on my macbook that are similar to a pc's such as defrag, scan disk...? My macbook is about a year old. It's the base model, core 2 duo at 2 ghz 1 gig of memory, 80 gig hard drive. The software version is 10.4.11

Just run the disk utility app in your utilities folder, if any problems show up
boot from your OS disc and run same from it, let it repair any problems and repair
permissions. The OS self defrags when you startup. If you let the Mac run overnight it will selfrun some cleanup scripts.

Yep, I leave my macbook run all night about once or twice a week for backups and cleanups.
