How about 2 instances? :)

If my adult son moved out ( Oh please let that happen soon!! ), it would take 2 D* HDDVRs to do the job my one from E* does.
Yeah...The OTA tuners being active at the same time as the satellite tuners does give Dish an advantage for those that want to record more than 2 things at a time. Although you are limited to what you can get OTA though on two tuners if you want to do 4 at a time.

Having used both Dish, Direct, and comcrap's DVR's, I like Dish's the best.

I would have said the same thing two weeks ago but with these new receivers and MRV, Directv has impressed me and so far I don't miss the Vip receivers. Both companies are very comparable when it comes to programming so I won't comment on that.

. I see every Bronco game which is just fine with me because again I couldn't care less about any other team.
I don't plan on switching to Direct, comcrap or any other provider until Dish shuts off their satellites. Like I said, I like the product, and I like what I am asked to pay over any of the other companies. If that is my fault some how as allargon put it, then so be it. But it's a stupid statement he made in my opinion.

Sounds like you live in the Denver area, and if that is the case, I am sure you enjoy all your local teams games in HD. However, it is not possible for me to see my teams games in HD on Dish. I like their equipment better too. However their SD over compressed versions of a Buffalo Sabres Hockey game are disgusting. Now I am sure the feud with the Dolans, etc has something to do with the feed they receive from MSG, and I am sure if Charlie lived in this area of the woods, he would make sure he had arrangements to get the games in HD all the time.

Cannot comment myself as I have only used one. But, have you seen the new HR24 by Direct? From what others have posted that have used both the VIPs and the HR24, most say they are very comparable with the HR24 having an advantage in some areas and the VIPs in other areas.

You can keep pushing all you want, but as I stated before, I am happy with Dish and don't care to switch, even if I like sports, even if I don't care about movies, I don't care to switch, and I don't care what Direct has. I'm happy with what I have and I am happy with what I am being provided. So you can keep trying but I don't care about Direct!

my comments are about my situation and what I care about. I am happy with what I have and I am happy with what I am being provided and yes, I enjoy it. My post was about me. Selfish? Okay! But I can't do anything about what Dish does or doesn't offer in other parts of the country, I can only enjoy (or not enjoy) what Dish gives me where I live (yes in Colorado FWIW) and what I subscribe to.

bob, plenty of us here have been subject to putting up with your opinions for a long while, most of us are tired of your rants but you are still here, so we have to continue to put up with your injecting yourself into threads even when what you have to say has absolutely nothing to do with what the thread is about, whether we like it or not.
I have stated my opinion on why I have Dish, why I keep Dish, dispute the fact I like sports and couldn't care less about movie channels. I'm sorry you don't like it, I'm sorry that it bothers you, I'm sorry that you think that anyone that continues to have Dish is getting raped, but I'm happy with Dish, so tough crap to you as far as I am concerned!!
Again, I am happy with what I have, with what I am being provided. PERIOD!
Anyone else want to try and change my mind?

Don't get me wrong. I am not trying to push your or convince you that one is better than the other. Simply discussing, asking, and inquiring...That's all

At the moment, I record locals as 2 OTA in HD and 2 SAT in SD as my locals aren't on in HD. It works out pretty well as a couple of them have darned good SD via SAT. When E* turns on the uplinked HD locals, then all 4 can be done the same way, but in HD. It is quite handy.

I think he was simply giving you info that there may be better options than what you may have used in the past. I do not think he was trying to push you.

By all means, if someone is happy with what they have though, stay with it. No one can fault you for that.:up

I subscribed to Dish in April 2009.....I plan on defecting as soon as my contract is up in April of next year.

My fees have gone up way too much in the last year. I now spend $83 a month to keep Dish. Fortunately, Dish was also kind enough to add some credits due to issues they could control, but would not.

But it's not enough.....I've heard nothing but good about DirecTV and I won't stand Dish anymore.

Both DBS outfits have their issues.

I finally got approval from the kids to switch to FIOS. :D

I felt bad, because they've never had anything but Dish (~10 years now). Even my 2 year old knows how to operate the remote.

The final straw for them was the DVR. It pukes a hard drive about every 4 months and they loose all of their shows.

Just waiting for a good FIOS deal to come along. ;)
