Dracut, Ma.
Hi all,

Dumb question, but I couldn't find anything specific in the manual to
prove it out.

I have a Fortec Mercury II receiver and was wondering if the LNB IN
port propagates the 13-18VDC control voltage to the IF OUT (loop thru) port??

Reason for this question is that I want to connect my HP Spectrum
Analyzer into the system in order to look at some of the satellite
footprints. (I was working on a customer's Sat ENG truck and was facinated with the the sat waveforms) I don't have a DC blocker for the input and don,t want to fry the front end of the HP (182T w/ 8559A plug-in).

If the voltage does go thru, I'll have to drop by work on Monday
(I'm on vacation) and pick one up.

Thanks,
John

Edit: Would it suffice to just make up a connector with a
1.0 (or so) uf capacitor to block the DC to the input of the analyzer?

the loopout does not send a voltage, so you dont need to worry about your spectrum getting 13v or 18v sent into it.

you;ll have to use your mercury II to switch voltage and send diseqc and 22khz commands though. if you turn the ird off (using the power switch on the back) then you can use your spectrum to send those commands if it supports it. most people just use the ird as the master though having it take care of all that for you.
