Toshiba will always be ahead because they make components for MS and Sony: Cell processors and drives. Even if they lose the HD-DVD battle, they'll bank on cell-processor based hardware (including next gen blu-ray players).

I am no fan at all of Sony Car audio. I have a huge audio system in my car, and would never buy sony. Some of my friends have Sony car audio components and they can't come close to topping my infinity, kicker, and polk setup.

It's really hard to say right now who or what is going to be the defacto, if either. There is a new technology coming out called Holodisc that has up to a terabyte of data on a disc, so who knows.
