So yesterday I was able to salvage the original pole that my 10 ft. mesh dish was mounted on, I cut it off at ground level and ended up with a 6'9 piece left over. With what I have read so far on pole mounting, I should have 2-3 feet in the ground with 4-5 feet above ground, correct? Just wanting to make sure that I have enough pole here to accomplish that, I would end up with 4 feet about ground for a 10 ft. dish....acceptable?

One half the width of 10' is 5'. The dish will contact the ground as the dish reaches the ends of the arc. The dish may need to be installed slightly higher than 5' if you live in an area with snow or need to easily mow or move around the base.

Maybe weld or bolt another short section to the bottom?

Thanks Titanium!, good call on the extra section on the bottom, not in an area to worry about snow or mowing but will add the extra little bit of height to be sure it is not touching the ground.
