MPEG2 Western Arc shutoff

That sounds like low signal. Call dish and get a tech out.
I'm getting a signal presently of between 64-65 and it's heavy overcast today, but I also haven't seen any break-up or macro blocking yet today. What's typical signal strength? I'll check it again tomorrow, as it's supposed to partly sunny...

That sounds good. You may have a bad connection outside then that has gotten water in it.
During the later part of last year my 722’s started acting up with lots of macro blocking and drop outs. I thought the receivers were just getting old. Last month when I replaced the 722’s with a Hopper3, I discovered that despite the drip loops the RG6 connectors and barrels that went up to the LNB had almost corroded out. When I took them apart, the center copper conductor was almost corroded through and just broke off. They were, after all, almost 15 years old! When I replaced all of the RG6 connectors and barrels, the problem went away.

So yes, check all of your connections all the way up to the LNB.

Yes - at least what I have down. However, the caveat - I can only see what I subscribe to. I don't subscribe to HBO, Cinemax, Showtime - so those channels were on 129 the last time they were in free preview.

The 3 HD transponders are TP 18, 24, 28.

I believe PPV 505, 506, 508, 509, 510, 514 are already on 110. Got them on my guide.

yep! Once they start to corrode, just temperature changes can cause it to cut in and out, thus why a lot of people will say it's fine during the day (hotter, conductor expands) and doesn't work at night (colder, conductor retracts). Until eventually it just quits working completely.

This is good to know - I am going to make note on those 6 channels. I can only tune into them when they go "off air" overnight to see what transponder they are on. And even at that, the channels rotate when they go "off air" so I can't check them all at once.

Edit: Actually, I can tune into 510 as that is the free preview PPV and it is now on 110, TP 07. I am guessing that the others are all on 110, TP 07 as well, but I can't confirm. 110, TP 07 is where the other PPV Movie channels are.

I'll be heading outside shortly to check out all the connections and see if there are any issues that need attention. I'll report back my findings...

And here's the report:

When the tech removed the old dishes late last year when he was installing the Hopper3/Joey3, he put up a new 3-LNB dish (for 110/119/129), new coax, new connectors, a new splitter - the whole works. I checked it out thoroughly and was pleasantly impressed. I hadn't checked it out in detail until this afternoon. Everything is new and secure, even the LNB connection. Again, I was very impressed.

So, now I'm suspecting the top of a vine maple tree that is in the LOS of the LNBs, but it's hard to tell (without getting up on a ladder to eyeball it better) if any of the leaves at the top of the tree are waving in-front of the LNBs when a breeze/wind comes up. I haven't seen any pixeliation or picture break-up or macro blocking for the past 3 days, but the weather has been nice here for the past two days and on Tuesday we just had heavy overcast with occasional sprinkles.

So, I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt anything to do some pruning of the upper part of that tree (yes, it's in my yard) and see if that helps...

The free Winegard Signal Finder app is very useful for finding LOS issues using its augmented reality feature.

Thanks! I'll give it a try.

It looks like 129W is empty now. Can anyone confirm?
Here is what is left on 129 that I am able to see and based off of what others have shared with me. 122 entries, but not all of these things will be moving off of 129 (like SD Pac 12 Network, SD Weather Channel, 129 slate, etc) and there are some duplicate channels. My locals have already moved off, so I can only look at what is on the ConUS transponders.

I had a work order the other day that was set for western arc and it only showed setting up 119/110.
This goes to show we are very close to 129 being gone. Not many highly watched channels left on 129. Dish did a pretty good job of getting the main ones off. I am surprised that NHL Network and ACC Network didn't get moved in an earlier shift given how they are in the lower packages coupled with higher viewership. (especially since the Stanley Cup playoff were going on full force during the transition and there was some baseball on ACC Network)
