MPEG2 Western Arc shutoff

So what is left on 129?

Here is what I can see - this only includes channels on the continental transponders and only channels I can see. There may be some things on Spotbeams still. But for the national channels, there isn't much left.

Thanks for providing this! I don't have a newer receiver, so I have not been able to confirm that the 4k channels are no longer on 129. It doesn't say what transponder those 4k channels moved to on 110. I am interested in finding that part out!

How can I receive these emails about channel changes?
Short answer is you can’t.

Longer answer is that these post’s are made by Dish for their technicians, and HipKat here being part of a regional service provider (think of it as a company that does technician work for Dish outside of their normal operation area) has been so kind to post the changes here as well. It sure would be nice to get a direct feed like this from Dish themselves with whatever data is considered confidential scrubbed, but we have to work with what we have.

Josh. If you can say, did the uplink center upgrade get finished yet?

As far as I know it was finished.

Short answer is you can’t.

Yea it's somewhat confidential info and would never be distributed outside of the company from the source intentionally. But I am more than willing to answer questions when they come up (to the best of my abilities)!

Its not that the receiver will search each of the three sats aimlessly, each channel has mappings or a "guide" of its own keeping track of which specific satellite/transponder contains said channel. They go something like "For WA this channel is on 129/17, for EA its 61.5/11 and if you need the SD version its on 110/16 or 72.7/4 respectively". This is why you can use your receiver on any of the two arcs regardless of your arc at home, with some exclusions like locals of course.
And that's kinda along the lines of what I was thinking. Thank you!

Josh - do you know why there is another Dish Scapes channel that was added on channel 6882? It is identical to 199. It is truly the identical channel as it is coming from 119, TP 14 just like 199 does.

Because while my primary function is Tech Support for the Dish Outdoors portion for them, I swear by the Flying Spaghetti Monster that I'm in the "You got a weird ass situation or issue that no one has ever seen or delt with before?" queue!!!

So I know I'm going to get ALL the weird calls!!
That's Columbus for you.

That "channel" is moved around quite a bit...I have no current info surrounding this one but it's likely an engineering only change that *probably* shouldn't be customer facing. Just curious can you see any other channels in the 6000's?

Outside the Sirius channels on 6002-6096, I can't see any other channels in the 6000's. Just the one random duplicate Dish Scape on 6882.

Could an old Dish 500 be used now for the Western Arc? As I recall some had two separate LNBs in a single holder and the later ones had both "eyes" for 110 and 119 molded into a one piece LNB.
I've heard several people here say that they're going back to the 500's, so the dish should work. I'd think. But as far as the older "2 in 1's"...I'd personally go with the separate LNB's.

I knew about the switch, but why is a single LNB better? Trying to learn as much as possible.
The dual DPP LNBF in a single package is better because it has a built-in switch reducing the individual hardware count. It's also easier to aim. Think of it as an EA dual LNBF reconfigured for a different satellite set.
