MPEG2 Western Arc shutoff

7/18 (ish)
To be more clear, I was curious as to what some receivers, especially those for Dish Outdoors would do when they scan. Would they still search for 110, 119, and 129...or will there be a software update so they'll only look for the 2 that they need....or would they start giving "Not all satellites found" errors?

Eventually there will be software to tell them to stop looking for 129 - but in the mean time we're working on communication to agents that says something along the lines of "Tell your customer 129 no longer exists and they should have all programming on 110/119 even if their check switch doesn't return all satellites"

That is an interesting question. My dish has 3 LNBs, looking at 110, 119 and 129. I'm guessing that as the migration has proceeded, my Hopper3/Joey3 just "know" that any given channel can exist on any of those 3 sats (or not)...and when they shut off 129 (or mostly off for us general consumer types), it'll just know...

Its not that the receiver will search each of the three sats aimlessly, each channel has mappings or a "guide" of its own keeping track of which specific satellite/transponder contains said channel. They go something like "For WA this channel is on 129/17, for EA its 61.5/11 and if you need the SD version its on 110/16 or 72.7/4 respectively". This is why you can use your receiver on any of the two arcs regardless of your arc at home, with some exclusions like locals of course.
If you recall the days of James Long's uplink updates and this own forums uplink reports, channels were (are?) constantly shifting here and there without much issue, especially things like RSN's would sometimes shift from one satellite to another almost daily. My only guess as to why that was would be that it was something to do with piracy.

Pretty sure it'll be the same as when 77 was discontinued. There were some reports here about people not being able to complete installations due to the receiver's installation wizard looking for 77 during setup, but nothing major happened to receivers already setup, just a red cross and a Conn. error where 77 used to be.

As of this morning, it appears that there are no more national HD channels on the ConUS transponders on 129.

I do not subscribe to the following channels that were on 129 last time they were in free preview. These are the only HD channels that I have documented that I can't verify where they are now, but I assume they were moved today like the rest of the HD channels. If anyone subscribes to these channels and can let me know where they are now, that would be great!

294 - AMC+ (129, TP 28 last time it was in free preview)
311 - HBO West (129, TP 18 last time it was in free preview)
313 - HBO Latino (129, TP 18 last time it was in free preview)

Don't know about AMC+
311 - HBO West is on 119, transponder 12
313 - HBO Latino is on 119, transponder 14.

Thanks Bobby! The only one I don't know where it is now is AMC+, channel 294.

Josh.M - can you enlighten us what satellite/transponder the HD version of 294 is on? I don't even know what package you need to subscribe to in order to get it...I have only been able to access it when it is in free preview.

Looks like AMC+ is being mapped down to 294 from the following locations: 119 transponder 18 & 61.5 transponder 3

On all providers that have it, AMC+ is a seperate add-on and not part of any base package. It includes a dedicated linear channel that has commercial free marathons of shows and movies from their library, but most of AMC+'s "first run" content, like advanced episodes of Walking Dead and other AMCN originals, are only available via VOD.

Thanks for the explanation! :)
