This is one of my favorite times of the year: warmer weather coming (we got a foot of snow overnight :(), spring training in full bloom and MARCH MADNESS, baby!!!! :)

First off, here's the 31 conferences that will earn automatic bids to the big dance. I will fill in the winner at the end of each conference tournament:

ACC:
AMERICA EAST:
ATLANTIC SUN:
ATLANTIC 10:
BIG EAST:
BIG SKY:
BIG SOUTH:
BIG TEN:
BIG 12:
BIG WEST:
COLONIAL:
CONFERENCE USA:
HORIZON:
IVY LEAGUE*:
MAAC:
MAC:
MEAC:
MISSOURI VALLEY:
MOUNTAIN WEST:
NORTHEAST:
OHIO VALLEY:
PAC-10:
PATRIOT LEAGUE:
SEC:
SOUTHERN:
SOUTHLAND:
SUMMIT LEAGUE:
SUN BELT:
SWAC:
WAC:
WEST COAST:

*- Ivy League doesn't participate in a postseason conference tournament, therefore the regular season champ receives the automatic bid.

I'll predict who I think will win some of the tournaments for now; I'll fill in the other in due time.

ACC: North Carolina
ATLANTIC 10: Xavier
BIG EAST: Pittsburgh
BIG TEN: Michigan State
BIG 12: Oklahoma
CONFERENCE USA: Memphis
HORIZON: Butler
MISSOURI VALLEY: Creighton
MOUNTAIN WEST: BYU
PAC-10: Arizona State
SEC: LSU

Bill, it you or someone else could fill me on the teams in the conference I haven't mention yet, I'd appreciate it.

As soon as I can, I'll pick the teams I have winning all the tournaments.

Good looking picks, Sabres! :up

But remember, there's ALWAYS a lot of upsets during championship week.

The first wave of conference championships is this weekend (all times Eastern):

Big South Championship- Saturday at 4:00pm on ESPN2

Atlantic Sun Championship- Saturday at 6:00pm on ESPN2

Ohio Valley Championship- Saturday at 8:00pm on ESPN2

Missouri Valley Championship- Sunday at 2:00pm on CBS

Also, the Ivy League rep will probably be determined this weekend.

This is my favorite time of year too. The ACC and Big East tournaments are going to be unreal. Barring any early round upsets all the teams in the quarterfinals of the ACC and BE tournaments could be NCAA Tournament teams. When has that ever happened?

HORIZON: Butler

Mark my words Sabres.... Do not count out the Cleveland State Vikings. It took a buzzer beater for Butler to squeak out a win against Cleveland State at Butler a few weeks ago. These Vikings are very hungry under coach Gary Waters.

As a huge Duke fan, see icon, I cannot agree more that the Big East and ACC will be unbelievable games night in and night out.

However, what is an upset? Any team especially in the ACC can win it? Yes, even Virginia or Georgia Tech. In the Big East, even Georgetown or Notre Dame can win it!

I hope Duke does not win it because I want a 4th seed in the Tourney; any higher has proven trouble in recent years!

Prediction: Pitt wins Big East and Clemson wins the ACC

If you're right HD results like that would be a disaster for many bubble teams across the country. That's what makes championship week so much fun. A lot of people are going to hoping that teams like Butler and Gonzaga don't get tripped up.

Lots of teams in the ACC could win the tournament but Virginia and GT can't. They are terrible, especially GT.

You beat me to the punch, anders. :D Teams like Gonzaga and Butler are pretty much locks to make into the field of 65. So if they lose their respective conference tournaments, that's a huge blow to the bubble teams out there.
