I was just reading an article about the new HD-DVR from DirecTV, Looks awesome.

Expected to cost between $1,500 and $2,000

I thought that this was the one that will not be available to the public and will be sold to restaurants and such. Maybe that is wrong also.

The article states this DVR "Runs similar software to their MPEG4 HD DVR". That means this is an advanced version of the HR20-250 due later this year. I would expect the HR20-250 will be more suited to the normal D* user, and a lot cheaper than $1,500!

this is not the tivo-like DVR that we're all awaiting...

This is the HR-20P, the professional HD DVR that will
be sold for professional home theaters and the like...

It is rack-mountable and has a LCD screen front...

I wish people would do more research before they start
posting wrong info...

Why would a restaurant need a DVR? Its hard enough to get them to not run an RF feed to their plasmas.
