Hello all....

I would like to set up my own DTV dish. I am thinking of getting one of the newest HD DVR receivers.

I have been told to also get the Slimline SWM dish.
I know that this dish feeds off of 5 different sats.

My question is....

Is it possible for me to use a bunch of other single dishes that I have around the house to receive the sats that I will need for DTV?
I know that one sat (109.8W) has basically nothing on it.
So that leaves 99.2, 101, 102.8 and the 119.

Each will have its own dish.
If I can do this, I would like to know what specific LNB's and switch I will need to feed to 1 reciever in the house.

Do I need specific LNB's for the 99.2 or the 102.8?

Thanks!!

I don't believe there is a way to combine the signals from the different satellites if you are using single dishes.

So you want 4 dishes on your house/property ????
Instead of 1.

Getting KA and KU off of the dishes your looking at will be intersting.

You never did mention what dishes you were going to try this with.

Good luck.

The dishes that I have are your standard 18" or 20" dish.
I also have a T55 Toroidal that I could use for the 101 and the 119.
The other 3 would be the 18" dish.

I would need a Ku LNB for the 99 and 103 I beleive??

I am not sure if this would work.

99 and 103 are ka satellites. Regardless, you have to be able to combine the signals. That's where you will run into problems. Why not just use a Slimline and standard 5 lnb designed for it?

Once again, Why would you want to do this ?

You'll be under a commitment regardless weather you do it or D* does it.
Incase thats what you were thinking....

A plan like that will have you back here with lots more questions.....the right dish (or dishes)/the lnb(s) necessary for your programming needs/good cabeling installed by a tech that does it every day is a wiser plan.

I was just trying to save the purchase of another dish. (SWM Slimline)

I have so many others around the house, why not use them if I can??

If I cant, or if it is too complicated, I wont.

I cant get DTV to install, I am in Canada.

So I am on my own, to get the SWM Dish installed.
I do not have all the equipment required, the meter, the ASL....

Not sure if it can be done with the receiver alone??

Any suggestions?

KISS Keep it simple stupid If your going to do a self install for one HDDVR. Use a SL3 Legacy LNB you don't need 119, you don't need a SWM so you don't need an ASL you can use your existing tuning meter.

So wich if the 5 sats do I really need for the Premium package?

I though that Lyngsat shows many channels on the 119?

90 % of the channels are on the 99, 101 and 103 Sats.
Nothing on the 110 and a few obscure channels on the 119 and a few music channels.

Sent from my Samsung Epic using SatelliteGuys

As you were told in your own thread it need to be realigned you can do it yourself but calling D* is much easier.
