i took down my 6 ft dish and put up my 10 ft channel master. i only moved this dish 6 miles so ele and dec was already set.i had no problem when i set up my 6 footer getting signal but i cannot get nothing on this one no signal at all using a sathawk 4000 meter.it had a chaparral feed horn on it and was set at 46"from dish i am using a dmx741 i set at 46" also to start but i have moved it in and out trying to get signal. is a 10 ft dish harder to set up than a 6 ft dish. ialso ajusted my elevation up and down trying to get a signal i donot know what to do next.

here is pictures of dish

Are you using the same LNBF as the 6 footer?"
The LNB in the Pic does not look like a "DMX741" C/Ku Combo LNBF, looks like a C Band only LNBF.
Did you properly set the LNBF's Skew?

If your in Georgia, picture 005.JPG makes it look like your elevation is low to the horizon.
That must not be your true south satellite, it looks like the dish is swung to the west.

yea it a dmx241 the same lnbf that was on the 6 footer.

elevation was set when i moved it but i have double checked it and it is right on.

Assuming your elevation is correct, and it looks right to me. Then my next guess would be your north and south is off? Try getting something that's straight up, like maybe This TV on AMC3 @ 87.0w. Once you get it lined up, then try for the lower (more west) feeds. Start at the top and work your dish down. It should be easier that way.....?
Good Luck!

yes i have had it straight up tried for 87 and 91 and rotated dish back and fort i still cannot get even a blip on the sathawk.when it quits raining i am going to fool with the lnb and move it in and out and see if i can get a signal.

Maybe you should put the Chaparral back on it, and see if it will pick up any thing? Only remember that it will be single polarity, meaning one side (or the other). If you find something with a blind scan, you can determine which polarity it is later.
Which makes me think about the SKEW, maybe you need to adjust the DMX241? If it is off, that could be your problem?

10 fter are harder that 7 1/2 or 6 fters :) i know

make sure the feedhorn is properly centered and aimed at the center of the dish if its even slightly off it will degrade signal.

then you might try rotating the whole dish on the pole east / west and see if you can gain signal.

those would be easy things to try

i have tried the rotating.i am going try adjusting the feedhorn or lnbf today.

I had some similar struggles as you in a very similar situation. I would check the feedhorn and LNB first, possibly swap out the LNB for your other one just to see. Where are you getting your measurements from? I used dishpointer.com. Do you have a compass? Set your azimuth as close as you can and just rotate and pick up and push down on the dish until you can get a signal. I've never attempted to align a C-band dish in my life and I was getting signal within 30 minutes...took me a couple days to get it tracking the arc though.

when i set up my 6 footer i got signal very quick too thats what so puzzling with this one.yes i used dish pointer and a compass to set to due south.i got 2 more lnbf i will try the guy i got it from said it quit working so i think the chaparral lnbf is bad.

well it has whooped me i been fooling with c-band off and on for over 20 years this is the first one i could not get evem a blip on the meter.i have tried 3 different lnbf adjusted then in and out and get nothing.double checked ele and del even made up a new cable to go between lnb and meter.

Sounds really frustrating.

Try moving your dish to your true south sat. place a 2x10 vertically across the face of the dish and check to see what that elevation is. It must agree with what satsig tells you elevation is for that sat.

If that is ok, measure your dish diameter and depth to get your f/d and measure to your Scalar ring to see if that is ok. Set your lnbf to the markings on the throat for your f/d.

Take plastic cover off lnbf and observe that the probes for V/H orientation.

If all that is good then do the string method to see if dish is warped.

In your picture 002.JPG Your lnbf is not skewed to zero, on a motorized dish it should be set that way, use the marks on the lnbf to put the zero straight up.

Also it looks to me your dish is swung all the way west, you can't properly set the elevation that way.

Your actuator is fully contracted, it should be mid travel for your true south sat.

Are you sure the Meter is setup properly?
Can you be specific in what Sat you are trying to hit?

yes i just used the meter last week to set a ku dish. trying to lock 87 or 91 pointing due south or 135 pointing west.

Are you trying to Ku or C Band?
To set the Skew, the "Zero" mark should line up with the Dishes Axis point, 12 o'clock with the Dish at it's highest point.
What TPs are you using for 87 and / or 91?(the Fox Sports TPs on 91 are smokin' hot)
What Azimuth are you pointing to.

Well you sound experienced. But have you measured the diameter of the dish in two directions? I had an 8 foot solid that the guy I got it from had dropped. I tried rounding it with a come-along and c-clamps on the long axis, but that didn't get it round. I didn't get a signal until I strung a thin cable across the long axis and tightened until it measured round.

I don't have the lnb centering problem with my current Birdview , since it has six struts, but my prior big dish had three . That one took some bending and flexing per the use of a tape measure to center the scalar plate on the dish.

I guess meters have their place, but I have the best luck with a "beep on scan" receiver and wireless headphones. My particular method is, first determine how many clicks to a degree (like in your G-box or slaved receiver) - in my case it's 15. Then find your highest dish position ( which is, of course, where your dish should be aiming south) . Then find the satellite somewhat close to the due south position . Then move the dish actuator whatever the difference is - in my case, due south is 1.8 degrees off of the sat
I was trying to get. 1.8 x 15 = 27 clicks. Then without moving the actuator again, swivel the dish on the pole and move it up and down.

If you can mount a Ku lnb in there temporarily, maybe try to zero in on 110 or 119 w. These are high power and much more forgiving and might get you in the ballpark.

For beep on scan I use a Viewsat Ultra. I get a transponder that's hot, adjust slowly, and go for the highest pitched and most rapid beeps.

Good luck. You are missing the cool NFL HD feeds.

c band on the 6 footer i had to put it at 9:00. on 87 using 3835 this tv and on 91
using 4014 the word network.
