Ok I am half installed. My box showed up at 3pm so I only had an hour and a half to play with it before it got dark. I was able to mount the Dish however I did not adjust any settings on the Dish.

Hopefully someone can tell me what my settings should be for my zip code 06111 I need the settings that need to be set on the motor as well as on the Dish.

I did fool around with he motor a little bit moving the dish left and right. :) I know I will need to set it back to zero once I have light tommorow and set things up correctly.

I do think that I will need to move the dish in the spring so I can see more of the arc this dish is located to the right and slightly behind my superdish, so I know if the dish moves to the left I will not be able to see satellites like 61.5 but I can fix that later on. :)

Well done Scott here are the angles you need......

I would set the motor to 42 deg. same as your latitude, but double check the motor manual as I have only installed one of those, it worked well.

Thanks Pete.

What is my southern most satellite and what do I set the Dish settings to and the motor settings to? :)

Its marked TRUE SOUTH in red : )

And the motor angle is at the bottom of the post!

As for the dish elevation setting....the one I done seemed to have the dish set at its normal elevation (42 deg. elevation for you) but check with the manual and it will tell you. I think with this motor the declination is already taken into account, unlike the SG2100.

Ahh I didn't see the red. :)

So the motor angle is 42 degrees, the Dish angle is also 42 as well?

Let's hope I see see the true south satellite, my SuperDish may be in the way but will try it. :)

Thanks Pete. :)

Scott

Set up AMC-6 as your true south bird, under antenna set up (AMC-6 72W) enter USALS add you Latitude and longitude, go down to "Reference Position" and click on that, then exit and OK to save. (start with motor at zero)

Then set up SBS6 next as soon as you enter USALS the motor will move the dish to where SBS6 should be then move the dish motor and all (by hand) on the mount looking for quality only, I would use the below TP. when trying to find quality on SBS6

ONN

11740MHz

SR: 6.616 Msps

Hi

I will be getting my first FTA system. It's suppose to come in Wedensday.

Do you know the angles I will need to setup the dish? or where I can get them?

I live in zip code 70560.

Here's the system I'm waiting to come in.

Pansat 2500A receiver
30" offset satellite dish
Single Universal LNBF
PM900 motor
4-way tokyosat diseqc switch

I should have done next day air! because the wait is killing me! :yikes

Thanks
Mark

OT: What the hell? See the first couple "Similar Threads" below. :)
For example, "EVIL FBI SADISTS should be HUNTED, KIDNAPPED and TORTURED for 3 YRS"

Well I went out there and its not going to work for me, at least where it is now. :)

When I move the Dish it wacks into the SuperDish.

I put back the old Dish 500 And Hit Nimiq 1 on my first shot. Now watching some ITC football, plus found lots of audio channels.

I have a lot to do for the party tommorow so this will have to do for now until I can plant a new pole.

Update, my 2 year old just dumped a can of coke on my Fortec remote and now its not working. :( Grrr, hopefully the Harmony remote can control.

Well went out for awhile and got back home and my remote is working again (Yeah!)

Besides Picking up Global (which was just showing the Simpsons) :) it picks up a bunch of readio stations, although a few of them do not come in the sound is all cut up, however other channels like FAN come in fine. :D

I am happy, I will be happier when I I get a new pole planeted so I can see the arc without banging into my other dish. :)

Football in the clear? Global in the clear? When I was pointing an Nimiq 1, the only video I found was the barker channels. What's up?

There are about 35 radio stations that you can get on ExpressVu :)
The Galaxiw channels are scrambled :(

There was a glitch yesterday and one of the Global channels didnt get scrambled. IT was soon gone :(

Lost

OK I got my system in and I'm lost.

I tried to set up my disch and receiver for G11ku which is my true south satellite.

When I do a scan I get these scrambled channels.

01-MSNBC
02-CourtTV
03-Straz!
04-National Geograph
05-Fox News
06-Weather Channel
07-CNBC
08-A E History
09-A E Biography
10 A E

I don't get any FTA channels. Only scamble channels that I can't see.

My Antenna Setup Menu Looks like this

LNB type Universal 1
LNB Local-Freq. 9750/10600
22khz -
DiSECqc OFF
skew -1
TP (1) 12060 V 26.700
Positioner Setting USALS
Satellite Scan FTA-Scramble

Level 83%
Quaility 75%

This is my first time fooling with one of these things.
Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong?
Where's all the FTA stuff?
Also if I scan to another satellite I get Zero signal strength.

It's dark outside now. So I will contuine in the Morning.

Also I'm using a Pansat 2500A, A PM900 motor, and a Fortec dish.

Thanks

I think you MAY be on AMC 4 101w

History Channel International PowerVu 8 1860 1820 E

The Biography Channel PowerVu 9 1960 1920 E

A&E East PowerVu 10 1060 1020

So you need to go 10 deg. East to get to G11 at 91 deg.W

I would use the below channel and watch for quality when you move the dish, 10 deg. sounds like a lot but on the pole its not, I would mark the mast/pole with a pen before you start just in case you go too far!

Well done, and welcome to the hobby : )

Use this.

G11
Primedia
12060Mhz V 26700 S/R

On second thoughts why are you not getting all the FTA channels on AMC-4?
Also change the scan to FTA only.
