I'm not sure what to make of this, there are two tiny wires coming from the feed horn.
I put the meter on them and there is 98ohms acrossthem. I've never seen a dual cband feed horn before so I attached a few pics... Can anyone shed some light on what they might be for? Did I waste $10 on this feed?

that looks like my chap ortho. but mine doesnt have the gold insert the wires must be connected to. intersting indeed.

I can see a brand name molded into the casting.
Tell us what that says.
Maybe that company's web site will have a picture to match yours?

I was wondering if it could be a pre-heater of some sort, to maintain temperature or to keep the horn dry inside?
Some dishes do have heaters bonded to their back side to keep off the snow.

But, whatever it is, you didn't waste $10 on it, of that I'm pretty sure! ;)
 
It is a chaparral. It came from eastern Canada so you maybe correct in thinking it has to do with temperature control or keeping it dry.
