Got rid of Direct TV. Putting up a OTA antenna. Want to use the direct mount, looking to add 2' or 3' extension to gain some height....Any suggestions?

That Direct pole is 2"....Just trying to get it over the peak of the home. Between trees and mountains it does ok. Just missing the NBC stations.

Did not see any extensions for 2". Only for 1", 1.25" and 1.5"

Sorry, I think the DTV mount is simply not fit for purpose. Probably weak in wind.

Is an antenna mount and extension pole really that much more expensive than your jury-rig? Jerry-rig?

The price difference may be cheap insurance against ending up buying both.

It could be and issue if the antenna is very large but I have seen many people reuse dish poles for smaller antennas without issue. I guess size does matter...

Yes its a very small antenna, Everything is coming in fine but my local NBC. Last scan came up with 58 channels. 4 bolts in the roof for the dish. Then the 2 kickers are also bolted in the roof.
If I dont get NBC I will not get Sunday Night Football. But I can get all the Sunday games now via OTA. Its already a success. Not even sure how much longer I will live in this location?
The transmitters(repeaters) are 29 miles away. The problem is the terrain, and the location of that NBC, is behind a nice size mountain.

If you haven't already done so try tilting your antenna up a little bit to take advantage of the 'knife edge effect.'

That helped us get signal with 2-edge reception behind a large hill at 42 and 57 miles from the transmitters.

I used a 10 ft. by 1.25" (id), the (od) is 1.5"conduit cut it to 5 ft. and an adapter from Menards. Has been on my roof for 8 years without problems.

I noticed that the Winegard VHF antenna at our vacation home didn't quite make 50 years of life. It's on top of a 48' Ham tower so getting it down to replace it will require a bucket truck.

I think the ice storms that hit northern Michigan in the late winter/early spring were the final straw. My siblings and I are discussing our options. At this point, VHF is less important for OTA than UHF and the Wineguard VHF antenna seems to be okay, but trying to find a preamp that would fit it makes it a moot point. I'd be inclined to replace it with a Televés UHF antenna.

I'll suggest that. But the base would need to be at least 12' and more like 16' to be safe. That's a lot of scaffolding.

The tower base is designed with hinge pins and it was brought down once before. It requires a guide rope be installed about halfway to two-thirds up the tower to help ease it back down. Or, we say "towers are so 2000-and-late" and saws-all the legs to drop it into the driveway. My sister is in favor of that solution. Certainly the cheapest…

Conduit is sized by the room inside for the wire bundle. I used 1.25" EMT. when I purchased it was $11. About triple that now.
