I know that another person here was talking about the recent software update (January 1, 2005), but is it worth it to update the receiver? I currently have the July 30 2004 (sv:2.24-Bt 6.0). Is there any advantage to updating to the new bin file from pansatusa.com?

Also, will a modem null cable be sufficient for the transfer?

I updated from version 224 to the Jan 1 release. I don't really see much difference in the operation with the new software.

In fact, I've noticed only two changes... under "antenna setup" there were two "new" slots where you could add new satellites. Those are now gone.

And... THE CLOCK NOW WORKS! At least it now keeps pretty close time.

I updated my PANSAT to newest Jan 05 release with no problems.

define "pretty close time"

I have a 1500 (which probably has the same software) and that thing loses 2-3 minutes a day right now. I have never updated the software on mine.

If I do, does the unit lose all settings? (It took me forever to get channels labelled and the 1.2 settings set) :D

Pansat software

The clock has gained a couple of minutes in a couple of weeks,

And yes, new software will reset all the settings.
