Post your COMMENTS about the Upgrade Here

I called at 5:00 pst as well. Everything seemed to go ok got a install date of 2/6 for a 211 going to keep my 522 until April and hopefully any bugs are worked out of the 622. CSR said I am going to be charged a 6.00 lease fee and I questioned if this was the enable fee in which I would not be charged as I signed up for the Bronze pack. She assured me that it is a lease fee. What is this about? I don't see any mention of it on the web site.

If you are leasing, then you should expect to pay a monthly lease fee.

If you got the $49 upgrade deal on the 211, then you won't qualify for a lease, at either $99 or $299, for the 622 come April. However if you paid the $399 purchase price, then you will still retain an upgrade option.

If I go to the dish website and go thru the steps to sign up as a new customer with a lease 211, a lease 522 and Bronze HD pack with locals and it does not add a lease fee to the quoted monthly rate. Stranger yet is the new monthly rate that the CSR gave me is only 1.00 more than what the website gives. I guess I'll know when I get my bill.

I just called E* for the 211 upgrade. Punched the number for technical support and then selected HDTV issues. I got a great rep on the phone who knew exactly what I was asking for. She wanted to know if I wanted to add a receiver or replace one. I said replace, and she asked for the R00 number of the receiver. I gave her a 311 and she said great. I apparently do not need to give up my current 811, I get to keep it. $49 dollars later is is being shipped out to me. Unbelievably easy.

I called about 8:30 on 2/1 and went through the tech support option. I told him I wanted to replace my 811 with a 622. Told me that it woud be 200 dollars and 99 cents and that I would get a $200 refund in April (which I know I will not get). Then I ask him if it was $200 and 99 cents or $299. He said $299. I said OK.

Took credit card info and scheduled date for install on 2/21.

Yeah right now just wateing on local reseller to get some 211's in and right now sound like most places just have 411's. I just wish Dish would get out more 211's so that way I could upgrade. :)

Messed up Order

Well, after talking to E* yesterday and them guaranteeing I would get the new equipment today, it hasn't all worked out. All the tech had was the 211 receiver and didn't think the new HD channels would be out for about a month. I then called DISH and explained this to them in which they agreed they messed up by not putting a DISH1000 on the order, but could do nothing about it. All they could say mabey next week sometime, in which I talked to a supervisor, James. I expressed my concerns to him very professionally, no vulgarity, no raised voice, just a conversation. All he could tell me is he could email the installation department and try and get something done. I asked if I could get a call back once he found out and he would not. I then asked him what should I do, just sit and wait forever until someone comes out when he then hung up on me. I have since emailed E* customer service looking for additional help. Hopefully something works out. Otherwise does anyone have any suggestions on getting a second dish and doing it myself?

Called today again after not having success yesterday. This CSR said they would replace my 625 instead of my 942 with the new 622. Install date of 2/24. The only hitch is that he was arguing with me about not needing a new dish at which poing he transferred me over to tech support and Cindy from TS said, "oh no sir, he was wrong, you will be getting a new d1000."

Total time: 20 minutes.

Yesterday's fiasco : 1:45 (with nothing resolved)

Much better results today.:) :)

Why not get the 411? Isn't it identical to the 211 with the exception of the USB (411) vs Ethernet (211) port and the model number screened on the faceplate? I haven't heard of any other differences.... the 211/411 both qualify for the upgrade....

How long have you worked for Dish Network?

Never, but I have been with them for years. I've subscribed to pretty much every channel since I first got them about 8 years ago. Plus locals, the west coast feed of Fox, etc. Maybe that's why I got a good deal

I was concerned about the 211 also, but the rep I spoke with must have said "Dual tuner HD DVR" about 15 times during the conversation. I too said "622" many times.

If they come on Sunday with a 211, the installer will end up as fertillazer ein my back yard.

I called at 6:30pm yesterday EST, spoke with Judy (indian), she gave me my options, I am doing a 942 swap for for a 622. She scheduled me for March 4th install. (I need a Saturday - otherwise it would have been 02/21). And everything took about 10-12 minutes. No sweat.

Now lets see how everything goes up to that point ;)

We should take bets on Chicagofilms' situation.

He paid $49 for an install that is scheduled within a few days, but was assured it was for a 622.

We know that the 622 upgrade price is $299 and that they are in extremely short supply.

So is the installer coming with a 211 or a 622?

My money is on the 211.

I feel bad for him but hey, he just may end up laughing all the way to his recliner because I personally know of Dish doing stranger things than what he's talking about.

They almost did the same thing to me. When she said $49, I knew she had keyed in the wrong one. I got her to fix it and she said "Oh, that option will cost $299".

Your proof is in that they will be installing it in a "few days". The earliest install date I've seen for 622s is 2/21 (They told me 2/22). Anyone getting one sooner?

This is an interesting point.... If the CSR screws up the order, are they still gonna try and charge a "cancellation fee"?

Be careful people, they've got landmines all around and people with blindfolds on the phone trying to steer you around them.

I just called Dish to upgrade my 6000 to a 622 and after going through the process I got a install date of early March. :-(

I told them nevermind and that I want to cancel my service. So I was transferred to a specialist and he asked me why did I want to leave after 5 years of service. I told them I was tired of being strung along for months (I have been trying to get a HD-DVR since December and I keep getting told to wait and wait).

Long story short... I was told that if I will be patient and stay with Dish, that there will be a promotion for existing customers in March/April for at least $200 rebate towards the 622. On top of that, they offered me one month's worth of service free for my troubles. :)

Waterdd they announced this $200 rebate on the Charlie Chat last month. :)

The key is you must call to order your 622 after April 1st to quailfy for the rebate. And with the issues they are having there is no word how long you will need to wait after April 1st to get the 622 installed.

Sounds like I'm getting a 411. Although I think I got hosed with the $6 dollar upgrade HD fee because I allready have the hd and voom package. But I will rectify this later.

Went through the whole agreement recording, total time on the phone, about 20-25 minutes. Not nearly as long as I thought it would be.

So I call this morning, to see when my new 211 or 411 might arrive. The CSR told me that she did not know what I was talking about. WHAT?! SHe looks up my info and tells me that heyu are sending me an EMPTY box to send my 811 back, but that there is no record of an upgrade to a 211. I tell her that thios is totally ridiculous. Why the he** would I send

She also tells me that I would need a dish 1000 pointed at 129 to get the new HD channels. I tell her that the new signal is mirrored on 61, that I was told I did not have to worry about tit and all I would need is the new box. Again, no comment.

I ask to speak to someone in charge, she says' hold on, then CLICK! I'm going to assume that we got disconnected and that she didn;t hang up on me.

I call back, get a guy who at least sounds like he somewhat knows what is going on. He tells me "oh, someone made a mistake. were sending you a new standard receiver" WHAT THE F**K?!?!?!

He tells me that I have to wait til i receive the standard receiver, immediately send it back, once received then they can take another order for a new 211. ARGH!!! He then says, look, call back tomorrow, we'll tkae care of this.

SOOOOOOO, Guess I'll have more to write tomorrw, but as of right now DISH is def on my list.

SO what do I do now? what a debacle, should I try and call back for a higher up?

I try to upgrade today and want to replace my two 811 for 211, but was told that they can send me just one on this moment. Funny part is that I will need to change programing, pay more monthly, but can watch new channels only on one TV. Do they have shortage of 211 or they just make more money that way ? I decline and will wait couple month to upgrade. If is due to shortage, it is plain stupid that they don't have enough supply.
