I clicked on the new Captain America movie to record and watch later and a box pops up with the cost of the movies and other info and it said no recording. Does this mean I can't record and watch at a later date?

Correct, it must be watched at the time of the showing.

Remember Captain America is with Marvel which is now a disney and Dish just signed a new deal with Disney. This was likely included in that.

Some of us have never had a DVD recorder. Also tapes can be reused.

I was told on this forum that those movies are copy protected and can't be recorded to a DVD recorder.

The encryption usually prevents transferring to a computer to burn a DVD or using HD connections (HDMI or component) but allow recording using s-video, composite and coax connections.

Composite should work fine as long as HDmi is not connected.

Some of us have never had a DVD recorder. Also tapes can be reused.

Some media is rewritable like dvd+rw, dvd-rw. Can't attest to how many rewites one can expect. Was told by Sales guy at big box store that the dvd-rw is touchy, not as reliable as dvd+rw.

Or DVD-RAM which is more durable than RW's imho..
