Primestar Dish on SG2100 ?

I would not use the satellite meter as it will pull you to the stronger DBS satellites, you HAVE to use a LIVE transponder and watch ONLY for signal QUALTY!

Here's my receiver settings I set up:
(I have a Satpros DSR 500 receiver, using a universal .3 SNH 031 LNBF)
LNB SETUP:
LNB type: Universal but left the HIGH LO and LOW LO like it is.
Power: LNB on
MOTOR SETUP
Motor/Goto: on (using the DiSEqc motor
(I reckon the SG 2100 is not a SLAB motor)
The LED on the 2100 lights up green
Since I was using the receivere with my C span system, I went ahead and set it back to the Factory Reset. Now I wonder if I screwed up?
How am I doing on that so far?

Hey, PSB!
Ok I will skip the Meter part.
I was told to go to G11 to set up the dish.
But the dangest thing is that when I select G11, the dish would go all the way west!!! I thought it was 91 degrees ! It done me that way twice.

If you are using USLAS make sure you have set your Latitude - NORTH and longitude - WEST

I normally go to G4R on the c band and set that system like that.
On the FTA I was getting the CBS , UPN , and NBC channels.
Could I do the same for the FTA?

Last night, I hook up my Satpros DSR 500 receiver to my C Band system and programmed some satellites (like G4R and Satmex 5) to it. I thought maybe leaving it on one of the channels on G4R would help me while trying to aim for the satellites I watch all the time, and then program all the other satellites once I got the dish aiming right. I use to do this with the c band systems. As I said earlier the pole dish and everything is set up for my FTA system
When I go back to the FTA dish and try to aim some more, I will try to go to a channel I watch on G4R and (hopefully) when I get it in, go for the rest of the satellites.
Reckon that would work?

Question: What satellite will be in my true south? My zip code is 38759. I haven't done anything to my system since Sunday.

Your TRUE south satellite is always the same as your Longitude!

91º

I would use Galaxy 11 :)

PSB, a funny thing happens when I try to go to G11. While I am trying to set the receiver to go to G11, the dang dish would go all the way west bound. I know it is 91 degrees W. It did me twice that way. The satellites are supposed to be programmed in my receiver. When I go Menu and went to Satellite Collection (I check on satellites that I want to use and it has 91 degrees. I am going to try again this evening after work and reset my receiver. It was getting dark Sunday when I was on the system and these Mississippi mosquitoes don't have mercy on fools like me...
Yes you told me earlier to use G11 and I was having problems with the dish going there. G4 and the other satellites track ok. I will try again this evening...

Had my primestar 30"x40 on my sg 2100

I'm thinking about attaching an old 29 5/8" x 39 5/8" Primestar dish to my SG2100 motor. It seems it would be rather simple to do, just reverse the mounting bracket and use some split PVC to shim up the shaft. But I wonder about the weight and wind resistance. Anyone doing this?
Hi I am jackpeas@yahoo.com in chicago,ILL.I had my primestar on a sg 2100 hh motor. But it was to heavy. Now I have a stab 120 hh motor.

Was it a Moteck SG2100 or some other name?

Also did you remove as much metal from the dish as possible?

Got some good news, yall!
Got the DSR 500 to work like it suppose to (so far!). Right now I got PAS 9, Nimiq 2, G3C, G11, and T6 birds. I am taking my sweet time programming the satellites.
I am getting alot of scrambled channels I can't watch, but I know I can get the free channels I want to receive.
Question: Right now I am receiving only the 5 digit frequencies which I know is Ku so does this mean I have to have a C band dish to receive the 4 digit frequencies? I noticed back when I was on the 4DTV system I was picking up only the 4 digit frequencies. But not the Ku frequencies.
I am new at the FTA world so any info from yall would be appreciated. Old John had been really helping me since we both are using the 1 meter Primestar dish and the mount Old John created for adapting the dish to the Moteck SG2100 motor drive work great!
Jackpea, look at Dirtyshame setup that was mentioned earlier in this thread. My dish system moves thru the arc with no strain.
Thanks to all who gave me suggestions on this project. I will try to use the DiseQc 4 way switch to tie in both dishs so I can get the channels I could get.

YES! You need a C-Band dish and LNBF to receive (4 digit) C-Band signals!

Drat!
That's ok. I will get out the switch and tie the c band on in. I was hoping it would be different with the system I am working on.
I am still learning.
Thanks PSB!
