PS2 Internet Connecting Issue

I have verizon fios so I wanted to connect my slim PS2 to the router with an ethernet cable. I ran the PS2 config cd and ran the test. All was well. When I try to connect wiht an online game I get a message that says that I cannot connect to the internet. I went into the router DMZ and made sure the PS2 was allowed in and out. Any suggestions as to what to look for or do to correct the issue?

I don't have a slim ps2... I have the good ol fat one and installed the part to it that connects to the internet.... All I can say is make sure more than one computer can work on the router to sort of test the firewall and if more than one can, the odds are likely the ps 2 can if you pick the right setup options...
