I dont think they will stop making games, as I saw up until last year (could even be this year) newer games for the ps1

Sony doesn't really make games. Game developers make games and I highly doubt they will stop making them because an incompatible $5-600 new console comes out.

They kept making PS1 games for years after the PS2 came out. Probably since the PS2 can also play them.
I expect the same thing to happen when the PS3 comes out as well.

There will be a big drop off in the number of PS2 games, but there will still be some.
