Howdy!

We’re trying to set up an Orby TV system for 32 receivers. I’m totally new to the satellite game, but upon further research, I’ve found that I’ll likely need a quattro LMB with cascading multiswitches. Does this make sense, and if so, can you point me to an LMB/dish combo that I can use to get things up and running?

I purchased the Orby dish, but the LMB won’t support 32 receivers (to my knowledge). I’ve attached the photo of the LMB that came with the self-install kit.

Thanks!
David

No need for a multiple output LNBF as the Orby channels are on a single polarity.

Use a powered satellite splitter 1x32 (or higher) to feed the single output LNBF to multiple receivers. Could also use a 1x2 power passing splitter that is feeding two 1x16 amplified splitters. If the splitter is non amplified, a quality inline amplifier may be necessary to provide adequate signal strength through the 14dB+ of attenuation caused by the splitteres.

BlonderTongue has a good selection of appropriate splitters. The splitter frequency rating must be at least 2300MHz.

For 32 STB distribution, I would use a 1.2m dish and matching Standard LO (10750) LNBF. This would increase signal reliability and provide a higher SNR for distribution.

I had missed an obvious distribution solution as I focused on inexpensive splitters. Use a 2 way splitter to feed the vertical input port of two Blonder Tongue SMR-1600 2x16 multi-switches.

An inexpensive switch option with significant signal loss would be to use DirecTV switches. One SPLIT4MRV DirecTV 1x4 switch feeding 4 - SPLIT8MRV DirecTV 1x8 switches). No extra power supplies should be needed in this configuration.

A preferred method with no signal loss example would be to use a Quintech 32-Port LS32-2150A active L-band splitter - Expensive, but a commercial option.

Hope this helps!
