ok folks i'm lining up parts to build a prototype feedhorn laser tool

questions i need answered

dot or cross hair laser ?

do you want the tool to fit only the lnb opening or both scaler and lnb opening?

this is a basic tool and trying to keep cost down , should be able to post pic once i get started.
so far my parts cost is at the $5 mark.

I vote cross hairs.

I did one of these a few months back but I have more than $5 in it. Here's the link.

Well my first prototype is great ...... well there are some problems :) seems it can only be used in low light areas to traverse the distance from lnbf to dish
seems my laser light isn't powerful enough :( I bought a cheap crosshair type laser (650nm 5mW 3V Red Laser Cross Module Head)

so i will take pics of the basic build (i'll post those later this evening) and try to check alignment closer to dark

first two pics are of prototype
3rd pic is cross hairs on deep freezer at 2 ft lights on
4th pic is cross hairs on deep freezer at 2 ft lights off
5th pic is mounted to lnbf
6 pic is of laser pointer mounted to the side on same tool, its mounted about 3/8 inch toward right and this is where dot shows on dish

3rd is scaler with flash and 4th is without flash also note i didn't adjust laser for scaler so its pointing about 1/2 inch right
