WASHINGTON (AP) -- Federal regulators on Friday halted a review of News Corp.'s proposed $6.6 billion purchase of the DirecTV satellite service until the companies supply more information about the deal.

The Federal Communications Commission is studying how the merger will affect competition in the industry. The agency said it will resume its review after it receives more documents about the deal and consults with the Justice Department.
